8 hours in and I only made it to the bottom of the man-breaker, but I'll climb it eventually, the hard way, because climbing in this game is fun so why even play the game if not to have fun?

Well actually there is another reason, I'm emotionally invested into Nate's journey, while he's quite a cliche he's also relatable to me in a lot of ways. I want him to get better, to surpass the odds, to allow him to prove himself.

A tight precision platformer with stunning visuals! My only minor gripe is that moving hazards don't reset their "loop" when you die, so if you attempt right away upon respawning you're likely to die again. But overall, the game is brimming with cool ideas both gameplay and art-wise. I hope the soundtrack gets an official upload somewhere, I'd love to listen to it at work.

Having worked on the original student project, it was very emotional for me to play Symphonia 4 years later, it having evolved into a full game. The team at Sunny peak really brought it to its best and most complete version, combining lots of things I love about video games:

Tight and challenging platforming requiring using several abilities in tandem, but that lets you try again immediately as many time as you need.
Sumptuous scenery to get lost into, and find secrets scattered within.
Music that makes emotions swell up in my chest. At the game's finale, I was about to cry.

During my playthrough I recognized a few setpieces from the student project version I helped design, I'm glad some of the ideas I worked on were kept in, and that some of those we didn't have time to implement back then made it to the final game!

I started playing, and then I couldn't stop until I beat the whole game, got every achievement, read every line of dialogue. I didn't sleep much that night but I couldn't stop. Truly a beautiful game.

After one hour of playing this is exactly what I hoped this game would be like. The first items you unlock already have a lot of depth to how you can use them, I have no idea how long it'll take me to reach full completion but if the amount of secret eggs is anything to go by, then probably a very long time.

edit: after 10 hours of playing I gotta add a trigger warning for giant ghost dogs chasing you across the map while howling terrifyingly.

Hyped by the original Ion trailer back in 2015 as an avid SS13 player and programmer.

Finally gave the game a shot back in 2022, but was a bit let down by how the game seemed to only focus on the engineering/atmos gameplay, with you having to build a station from scratch instead of there being pre-built stations for large groups of players to interact with each others and perform more civilian or scientific oriented jobs. From a game dev perspective however this was the right move, SS13 combines too many different systems for a small indie studio to tackle and polish on its own, and if there was ever a game to release from an actual game company based on SS13, the engineering and atmospherics aspects should absolutely be implemented and nailed down first.

After finally getting back to the game in 2024, it finally clicked for me, and I'm having a lot of fun slowly building my fully automated moon base, and looking forward to try on the other harder planets as well. I hope the devs keep working on this game for a long time, the updates look pretty good and still frequent.

PS: Do mind that the game has no tutorials, as those that existed in the past have been removed due to becoming deprecated. However, you can access an in-game encyclopedia by pressing F1 with lots of detail on how each object or machine works. Wish I noticed that sooner.
