So, uh, the gameplay's a direct translation from the mobile gacha game, except in 3d now which is.. interesting to say the least. As the original is online only this'll eventually become possibly the only way to directly experience something along the lines, in the case they don't try to do something like this again.
Essentially, it's bullet hell with ship girls, albeit only really on a technical level unless you're underpowered. The 2d game's like this too (it has an auto mode) but it feels especially unintuitive here to try to treat it like one.. especially considering the steam tags lack it. Game's also built with controllers in mind.. only. Keyboard layout is a mild nightmare.
Things got real repetitive gameplay wise, especially with trying to fully complete it. What I mean is in most cases you can just, circle the enemy. and win. Probably starts to become a problem in regular gameplay, but it's a lot more blatant when you need to max everyone out for achievements.

Speaking of that, there's a solid selection of boat you can use from the earlier set of stuff (since this came out early 2020), up to 3 at once, alongside other boats that aren't actually playable and just give buffs (also up to 3), and like the mobile game you can also customize and upgrade what gear they're using, should it be usable for the ship type. I've noticed the game's models of less popular ships being put onto gmod and SFM's workshops, so I suppose that's an indirect bonus. In addition there's some DLC boats.. and Neptune as pre-order bonus, that would've costed you 50$, and you flat out can't get now, great.
I have no clue why the game was 50$, or is 40$ now, i got it for half that and it still feels like a lot for this.
Personally, this is my only proper experience with Idea Factory and their stuff, and far as i'm aware stuff like this is up their alley if i can tell anything from neptunia.

So, generally speaking, I don't see a point in getting this while the original game's still around, disregarding it I still don't think I would've gotten ahold of it without my interest in azur lane as a whole, or if i noticed the tags labeling this as nigh on explicit. Yeah, i uh, i think that's supposed to be a positive for most people? To be clear here i'm kinda in a neutral point on this particular boat game's design tendencies, stuff stands out a lot easier though.

also there's a camera mode thing, you can probably see what its used for in the community hub because i could not be bothered to check it out myself.

i have 700 hours in this game

and i still don't know how to make a good boat

Okay to be serious while I can recommend the game, that's really only to people who are either very prepared to go blind into a very complex game or those who just want to watch boats blow each other up and can't be bothered to make their own stuff, an inbetween is rather unlikely to enjoy the game a lot. At least that's what it seems like.
The tutorials i'm pretty sure are just straight up random dev recordings, take that as you will, you may also want to take a look at those story missions before going head first into a full blown campaign.

It's a digital tabletop.
lets you virtual boardgame if it's present on the workshop or list of dlcs, or you could just make your own.
nothing really wrong here besides the occasional broken asset you run into sometimes when doing custom stuff.

Very much an online multiplayer game though, there are singleplayer things around but you may have issues doing much if you don't have anyone to play it with. Not that you can't local multiplayer but it'd be a bit of a pain to handle.

broke the fabric of reality at some point several times over, still can't find a vampire

The game's *technically* right in calling itself a casual game, there isn't too much going on at the start but it exponentially gets out of control until the casual part remaining is the technical end of not pressing two billion buttons in a specific combination to not instantly die, i suppose. doesn't mean there aren't scenarios where you pretty much need to do a particular thing or so to not instantly die (or you may die anyways and simply not care about the concept of death.)
However, all things considered, it still is a lot more easy going than other games (especially pvp games) despite it almost being a full on hybrid of strategy and mechanically casual in the later end of runs.

It also puts in absolutely no effort to be serious, maybe minimal effort at most i couldn't tell from being partially blinded half the time. What i'm saying is the game's very cheesy and knows it, particularly in what lore it does have (like how no one's found a bloody vampire yet despite the title of the game) and the secrets, they are something alright.

In the context of games similar to it existing, it's got a rather significant advantage beyond grandfather perk, polish. Haven't played many other games like this one but apparently readability tends to be comically bad at times in regular play, that only happens here if you've done something and broke the game in half (likely yet again), on top of that it can handle a lot more before stressing out the pc than the others i have played. If your pc's having a stroke, you probably did something way too well (or it's exceptionally underpowered.) also they got it working on the switch of all things. how.

good.

managed to cause collateral damage. 10/10

also there's quite a bit of a modding scene for this game and an eccentric fandom if you're looking for more out of omori, probably best to actually complete the game beforehand.

This game makes doing literally anything else almost zen like.

The movement and gunplay is outstanding, the music is so solid that going without it makes the game harder (which usually is only a problem for rhythm games), the secrets are downright absurd with how much of a whiplash they can be and the mechanics push you towards the brink of full on recklessness in the vein of murdering absolutely everything as stylishly as possible, but not quite reckless.
The amount of synergy with the guns is simply ridiculous, especially with the coin but that won't stop you from shooting a core with the railgun to nuke half of cyber grind at least once or just, punching the shotgun bullets.

great

This game's incredibly well made, coming from someone who otherwise doesn't like FPS games. Being able to violate the geneva suggestion against the kitchen sink's worth of bugs in an effort to mine and exploit the planet you're in is a feeling that's both unique and something i don't know how to describe.

Prefacing here, this is from someone who managed to make this their 'forever game' for a long while.. and is more so mixed than undeniably positive. I'm not here to discourage someone from trying it out though.

The game's good, core mechanics work solidly, there's a surprising amount of different things to utilize, the artstyle's unique and simplistic enough that i managed to mod it to a limited degree despite having zero prior skills (which by the way, modding scene's quite a thing, albeit it works best with a sideloader/companion application), the skill floor and ceiling is.. janky. It's not really that difficult, mostly in the early game and a select few instances beyond it, however losing your battlecruiser on wheels can be *really* costly if it is actually outmatched overall, especially if you've managed to increase the difficulty with something like working plane ai. Kind of encourages either cheesing encounters if possible or abusing saves. Or you could make something nimble and relatively replaceable. The high end of skill is mostly in airships (either antigrav or the beneficial hoverbug) and/or trying to make something meta and/or look good, the highest end is *very* blatant when you see it.

Game's selling point is seemingly that simplicity, it's simply not built to carry a more hardcore community (i would not consider myself one of those sorts, despite the hours) unlike some other games, particularly From The Depths where's it's the polar opposite. Does make it pretty accessible to younger kids though, which *is* what the game's target audience is.

On more negative ends, the game is partially botched on a fundamental level, quite a few bugs (like crafting which is riddled with them) alongside other things like being a single core game and still poorly optimized enough that the console versions are significantly more strict on what you can have down at any time, particularly the switch. It's also fundamentally a singleplayer game, what is working in multiplayer is nothing short of a miracle, especially crafting, because it's been pretty much stapled onto the game.
There's also the community. Since this is a game aimed towards kids that wouldn't be allowed on discord due to age it's quite the mess. Not inherently bad, but you're going to see and get quite the range of things, not to mention the bad apples you get with a community full of young kids.

Generally speaking, the game's good but not exceptional, the community's.. weird. Probably something neat to check out if you're having a stroke over complexity in other building games. Or if you find it comical to mod in the chance of a 5 pack turret squad to mow down your early-midgame tech out of nowhere. I speak from experience.

When you play Factorio, there's no going back.

And I mean it. Words from 5 years ago still hold true, you pretty much just try to automate absolutely everything you physically can as optimally as you know how to, just to research the next thing to automate or optimize. Sounds simple, but things get very out of control including your sense of time.
Helps that there isn't really a 'right' way to go about the basics outside of avoiding automation like the plague should you not be super concerned about optimization.

You may or may not also be contending with bugs that live and evolve off of coal fumes, probably the unholy amount you're making with the factory. So, naturally, you can do war crimes, especially if the planet looks more like Hoxxes IV than anything you'd want semi-permanent grounds on (this mostly accounts into ramping the enemies up like crazy in a custom world.)

Also if the base game wasn't enough there's also the ridiculous amount of mods and the (as of review upcoming) expansion which may as well be a lite version of the mod equivalent that's taking full advantage of being dlc and not a regular mod.
there's a mod that lets you factory in a factory.
