Awesome RTS. Don't let the mixed reviews fool you. Great gameplay, the balancing needs tweaking but the devs are actively working on it with both free and paid DLC later on. No game is perfectly balanced.
The cheater issue, at least in regular elo (around ~1500), is practically non existant after the anti cheat patch.

I get the hate for this game and I agree that the publishers are not the best at financial business decisions...

However, the game that the developers have made is amazing. The work the devs have put into this game the past 11 months is amazing. For that, they deserve this positive review.

The game runs far better than it did when I first bought and downloaded it back when it launched.
ARK SA was rushed to meet publisher (and shareholder) deadlines. Hence, it was a buggy, crashy, laggy mess.
Don't let the negative reviews push you away.
If you liked ARK SE, you will most likely like this (as long as your PC can run it).

ARK Survival Evolved as amazing, but now shows its age. Survival Ascended fixes that.
Is ASA a brand new game? No, its ARK SE with better graphics and QOL improvements.

Atlas is ARK but with pirates. It has a large map with lots of variety. With new developer teams there is more content and frequent updates, do not let the old reviews fool you. If you liked rafting in ARK you will love this. It fixes many of the boating issues that ARK has. It has less animals to tame than ARK, but from experience it is more about the exploration, PvE events and people that you meet.

Far Cry 4 was good but personally did not have enough content in the CO-OP mode.

Great game for someone whom doesn't really like the Assassins Creed games or if you don't like a huge story and lore surounding it. 9.5/10 it is good. Besides when you fall through the world. Great Open world Pirate game

Ok, I now have 800 hours on ARK. With this playtime I believe I can now make a informed decision about this game. First off, the controversy. $60 USD for ARK. Is it worth $60 as of right now? No. Could it be later into its development? Yes. Of course this is dependant on your time to money ratio that you want to get out of a game. For me personally, I would have got the $60 worth out of this game. Does it mean you will? Not necessarily. You need a good group of friends to play this game with. I would not recommend the offical servers unless you want to do everything 100% legit and grind out hours for simple resources. I would recommend finding a server with good gather rates and some quality of life mods. Would I still recommend this game even after the controversy? Yes. Would I buy it for $60 right now? No. Get it on sale or other sites like G2A.
