I use digital optical out from my motherboard to an Onkyo PR-SC5530 AV Controller for sound, with line level out to a separate 7 channel amplifier. I have Klipsch RP-160Ms as fronts, R-51Ms as surrounds, R-41Ms as height channels, plus a SVS PB-2000 Pro subwoofer, and an Omni S-10 subwoofer. This also serves as my home theater setup, with a 4k bluray player connected to the av controller/oled tv, as well as a chromecast, and using arc for smart tv streaming apps.
