In all seriousness, the full-vanilla playthrough is only slightly above-average, though I'd recommend playing through it no- or minimal-mods for a baseline story experience at least once before going wild with mods. However, the modded play is where it really shines. Mods shore up the bits that were left out and improve on parts that already worked well. Get a good combo of mods and you really can play for hours.

Colonists starved most of the winter and spring.
Took a prisoner from a raid.
Prisoner died from malnutrition.
Colonists ate the prisoner's corpse, then proceeded to harvest the rice field.

This game makes you ask the real questions like, "What is time?" and "Wasn't it just 6 PM on a Friday, not 3 AM Monday?"

I'm pretty sure I only played 20 minutes of this game. Guess I was wrong.

Pretty fireworks as your spaceship crumbles in the atmosphere because you came in too fast.
