meh. has potential, but it's frustrating to play. i wanted to like it, and i wish i could, but it's like a pretty good meal where someone forgot to add the salt and thyme.

-game feels overall janky.
-combat is janky.
-voicelines are muttered, unconvincing, lacklustre. just "huh" "huah" "guh" with no gusto.
-there's basically zero explanation of what to do.
-everything is just thrown at you.
-you get a companion early who'll die permanently after the first day or two, no warning or intro.
-enemies feel like a weird, unpredictable mess.
-get killed, respawn in a camp full of enemies every time, get your gear and run.
-try to sleep, wake up in the middle of the night because you're being attacked. no explanation, no indication, the game just throws it at you.

I guess that's my main impression of the whole thing. It throws a lot of stuff at you and doesn't bother explaining anything. Friend and I tried to play it for a bit, got frustrated with how undirected it was, gave it another chance, then gave up and agreed to go refund it.

If it at least didn't feel so janky in every respect, from the lack of explanations to the weird combat and punishing/unrewarding start, or the odd feeling of getting no feedback, I would've given it more time and tried to work around the rest, but as a whole;

not as good as people said.

Fun little game with a pretty cool atmosphere. It's a bit grindy and fetch-quest-ish at times, but it has some nice variety in level design and monsters, and some interesting pieces of lore and backstory spread throughout the game. The horror element is well done, almost has some dead by daylight vibes in the sense of despair (not the despair of playing alongside cheese&whine competitive players, though, just the nice kind of atmospheric despair). And yes, it is very much a labyrinth game, if the name didn't give it away.

Obviously, this is something to play with friends, that's where the fun is at. I wouldn't play it alone.

Price wise, I guess the current asking rate of 11 eur is ok.

It ran fine, I didn't encounter any bugs, performance seemed good, and multiplayer worked without a single issue. No crashes or disconnects. That's more than I can say about far more expensive titles. Both myself playing on Linux and my friends stuck on windows played it like this.

Fun enough in its own little way that I was a bit sad when it ended. Played over the course of several sessions spread across a few months, it'd become our own little adventure. There was some melancholy in seeing it end.

At least, though, it delivered an adventure :)

Wow. One of the best games I've ever played. In some respects, _the_ best.

It's so much fun, and everything is so well done. Art style, graphics, lighting, gameplay, sounds, music, voice actors, nice touches of varied banter and dialogue, richness of mechanics, crafting, buulding, performance. Somehow they checked every box and it still runs well. How?

And it's fun for everyone. I co-op'ed it with another adult, and we had a blast. It will also play very well with kids, it's a child friendly game despite being a lot of fun for adults, so if you're looking for something the whole family can join in on, this is a great choice.

Great graphics. Every visual element is smooth, good looking, well textured. You won't find any cheesy, lazy attempts at photorealism or stuffing photographed pictures through a filter to produce a texture here. No, they don't do that.
All the art, all the textures, all the objects are properly made, nothing looks out of place, everything is smooth and well polished. Despite having a ton of nice visual elements on screen at any given time, it stays even and never stutters or drops.
Use and implementation of lighting is some of the best I've seen. The way the sunlight shines through the terrain, the elegant translucency of stuff like grass or ants, it all looks super nice even on medium settings.

Mechanics, hotkeys and action convenience are all good. Keyboard+mouse friendly, controller friendly. Navigating menus and using items is conveniently and comfortably laid out. I started with mouse+kb and switched to controller, and I stayed with controller even though I've always played on PC and haven't been much of a console player.

It's got something for everyone. Combat is proper action, there's lots of different enemies and neutrals, and it blends well with the overall gameplay. Crafting and building is top notch, and if you're doing multiplayer you can kind of just pick a role, go out on adventure and gather resources, or stay and build a base and focus on crafting.

Building also works wonderfully. You can setup large structures or build your own bridgeways across pretty much the entire game and it doesn't affect the performance. And it's a lot of fun building, too. Make your own castle, complete with interior decorations and furniture? No problem.

Items, sorting, storage, all very well taken care of.

Performance? Fantastic. I rarely see big games like these well optimized, much less so titles that target both consoles and PC, but they've done it. You can play this on a 10 year old rig and get good performance. I'd speculate even a good PC from 2012 could play this quite decently on low settings. On a new rig, it flies. I tried on two machines:

On a i7-6700 capped at 3.4Ghz and a stock gtx 1070, ddr4 at 2400Mhz, medium settings hit an average 75-80fps, minimum 65fps, at 1920x1080. Don't be fooled, medium is good looking.

On a Ryzen 9 9950X3D (4.3Ghz, no PBO), DDR5 at 4800Mhz (no expo) and an RTX 5080 OC (stock settings), all high hits a minimum 220fps, and minimum 110fps on ultra, at 1920x1080. Ultra is mostly about better shadows and slightly fancier lighting, so I kept it at high and it's one of the smoothest play experiences I have available.

It autosaves regularly, and separately from your manual saves, so in terms of saving, your gameplay is quite safe.

And I played on Linux with both of these machines. It worked wonderfully. Over 2 months of play, I only managed to crash the game twice when I was using the latest GE-Proton (ie. not steam's official proton). I can't be sure what those crashes were, since it's not officially supported on this, but it was while I mashed a lot of keys and did a few things simultaneously that you wouldn't normally do.

All in all, it's a "can hardly recommend it enough" game. After two months of hours long sessions once or twice a week, the only thing that bothers me is that we've gotten through the story and it's "over". Sad. So much content, though.

I'll say it again: This is one of the top best games I've ever played.

Do not buy. Can't play this at all in offline mode. You have to log in every time to play it.
If internet drops, you're kicked out of the game. In other words it's trash unless you plan to be 100% online 100% of the time when you play.

Don't know what the hell they're thinking implementing it like this, but I'm sure not recommending it. Nor am I buying any more of their DLC.

Now excuse me while I go ask for a refund.

Great game ruined by xbox login. You have to be online to get in, you have to be online and relogin regularly to play, you can't even go through the login procedure of an existing xbox live account for a game you've paid for without being pestered with "verify your account" later, being asked for phone, secondary email, etc..

They're just doing this to get verified datamine-worthy accounts. A paid game copy at this price is a pretty solid indicator of human-not-bot-or-scammer, so they don't really have to do this. They just do it because they think they can.

Too bad, really, because the package itself is a good deal of games for your money, and they're good games, well made and well ported. Halo series is great.

..but I just want to play Halo, not repeatedly relogin to xbox live services and suddenly have a "confirm your secondary email before you can login" thrown on my screen when I just want to play the damn game.

So I guess I'll go find a free installation of this instead that doesn't bother me and just lets me play. Don't pay for this unless you need the multiplayer.

This is peak gaming. It will go down in the history books as a key example of the essence of what a video game is.

Ever wanted to play a game, but can't decide which? Goat Simulator 3.
Like easter eggs and wish they came in cartons of 1200? Goat Simulator 3.
Only have 5 minutes, but still want to feel accomplished? Goat Simulator 3.
Crave something funny that everyone ages 3-350+ can enjoy? Goat Simulator 3.
Want to roam with purpose, but no goal? Goat Simulator 3.
Need a reminder that humans are basically good? Goat Simulator 3.
You play open world games for the world, couldn't care less about quests? Goat Simulator 3.
Still want quests, but zero responsibility? Goat Simulator 3.
Feel like all of the above, but together? Goat Simulator 3 multiplayer.

It's funny, it's rich, it's good looking, charming, full of humor, and was clearly, clearly made by people who both play and enjoy video games themselves, who put real work into it. As an avid Skyrim player, it also had me laughing 3 seconds after starting my first play. Can't think of anyone I wouldn't recommend it to. It also works flawlessly on Linux.

Someone told me my reviews are usually negative. I said "Yeah, but i'm grumpy and everything annoys me, so at least if I give a good review then it must be good?". Goat Simulator 3.

GOAT means Greatest Of All Time. Three.

trash.
-removed from steam
-new 3rd party launcher/anticheat added
-features 'seasons' bs
-has 'battle pass' system you can pay for

imagine buying your toddler a puzzle and it comes with seasons and a battle pass to find the pieces you need in reasonable time. then starting next week it also requires a login to use.

this is why i'm not buying games any more. purchases provide no ownership nor guarantees.

just don't pay for games, people.

Bestest shooter / tower defense hybrid I know. It's fun, it's flashy, it's cool looking, you're cool, everything's cool.
Map design, sound effects, music, voices, art style, graphics, it's all done very well and combines into a game that's just.. a lot of fun to play.

You have an array of cool weapons to unlock, and ditto traps. You're also totally free to choose a playstyle. If you don't want to rely heavily on traps, you can go with projectile or melee weapons, or you can go full no-touch mastermind and use only traps and maneuvering, this is left up to you in the most organic way possible - you just pick the equipment you prefeer at the start of the round and that's it.

It also beats Orcs Must Die 3, which is ok, but can't quite compare to its predecessor.

There's some mouse acceleration, which becomes noticable if you're playing with high DPI. Not a game breaker, but can be a little annoying to get used to.

Wish it had workshop/addon support :F If it did it would become the stuff of legends.

meh. Kinda fun, but doesn't quite capture the magic of its predecessor. Sound/music/effects/looks/animations just don't feel right, lack oomph, lack pizz'ass. It's ok, but OMD2 is way more entertaining. This nerfs all the fun stuff and tries to force a particular playstyle (less focus on traps and tower defense, more running around shooting). War scenarios had promise, but they don't seem well enough thought through, so you usually end up grinding everything in a tight space inside and ignoring what's outside.

Also lacks ingame text chat, basic lobby control features, etc. Stuff that could've been easily implemented, but they're too lazy to add even after years of requests.

Doesn't quite seem right to recommend it when OMD2 is still available and shines at what it does.

A gem of the genre with some fun quirky humor. Works perfectly on linux as it does on windows.

The music's really cool, the levels are fairly numerous and varied, and the same can be said for the enemies, characters and weapons. It's got good gameplay and game mechanics, and of course it also appears to be rock solid and bug free, haven't had a single issue.

Visually nice, and somehow manages to also stay visually manageable even when there's a ton of action, which is something a lot of games can't get right. You know where you are and where to go and what to get at all times.

And the way it plays is pretty engaging, you have to stay active to stay alive and recharge your battery, which gives it a good kind of tension. It offers a fair challenge, too.

After I started playing, I couldn't stop, had to finish the whole thing. Then I went to unlock new weapons and play the infinity drive mode, which I still pick up to play from time to time years after finishing the game.

Really love this, it's both fun and pretty, and a very replayable thing to come back to.
