This review was written by someone that understood that its Early Access and doesn't suffer from modern gamer syndrome and expects zero issues. A reasonable level of thought will be used and will not review bomb the game because of day 1 hype overloaded servers and EA bugs.

I played for 70 hours and spent 0 dollars so far. Reading some of the comments remind me of the PC vs MAC wars. I think many people forget we have MTX because gamers allowed it to happen. Attacking a game based on optional purchases or because you identify as a warframe/destiny fan feels like you aren't really giving the gameplay a chance out of fear your friends might leave you for another shooter. We could have two scores, one based on how much you hate the Company and one actually based on the game. Also maybe another score for how much a clusterfun the launch was. I dislike the gameplay score gets blasted because every game I've played recently (including Helldivers) has a crab-tastic launch, TFD is not unique in that.

Because gamers can't review the gameplay, I wish we could get meta review scores based on how much playtime they have on games too. If you have 5k hours in FPS looters, I would weigh your review far more than the guy that begs for steam points by drinking ketchup, which ALWAYS get people to give them points. its basically mtx / whaling for steampoints since you should know not to enable people to write stupid reviews with points but you do it anyways and now we are flooded with dumb begger posts for every game now. We also need bias detection using ChatGPT in review wording to tag stuff that is obviously biased towards their current favorite game and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

That said, I do dislike some of the voice acting but I'm also playing a game not watching a movie so I only truly care about the gameplay and this game will net you at least 50 free hours of fun.

Why do I have to PvP to unlock PvE mode? Yes, its 1 mission but its still telling as to the developer's motives. Free weekend didn't sell the game for me. I was hoping Capcom was going to Blizzard/Apple steal EDF's game design, slap on a hipster UI and call it a day sadly that didn't happen. Going back to EDF and OW2 as they do their specific genre far better.

The PvPvE doesn't do either game modes a service. PvP feels like Gambit from Destiny 2 which isn't exactly the D2 playerbase's favorite mode. I recall games like Evolve which also have the same vibe and those did not pan out at all. Dev's needed to stick with 1 goal and stop trying to make PvPvE games. There are parts in the game that I think make me think it could make for good game but just fails in execution. The only time I've seen PvPvE work out is maybe Darksouls? but that feels more like PvE...vP. After doing 20 missions it just feels like the same thing over and over.

The Class balance seems off. Barrage is infinitely better than the other assaults which seems to stem from AOE vs single target. I wanted to play Minigun but couldn't because he was a 'Tank' and having more than 1 tank is worthless.

Not SWG... so my review will be overly negative and unfair and this review has the high ground...

With the modern removal of multiplayer from mmos this game is still well worth playing as a single player game. Having NPCs AI that can join you for Dungeons and such really help to remove most need to interact with any other human being so I approve this game for consumption by hermits from the planet Dagobah.

The flexible cosmetic system as well as being able to buy cashshop items with in game gold that other players put up for sale make it very approachable. Since you can buy cashshop items, I found the actual crafted items to be worthless to a casual like myself. You just buy a cool cashshop suit and jam in the upgrade item and move on with your story that happened a long long time ago. There are a ton of armor sets at this point so if you don't find 20-50 suits you don't love, you are probably broken inside and just want your Jedi to wear corduroy hipster pants because it makes you feel special.

I did find the classes bland overall with their EQ2 approach to classes which creates additional advanced specs even if they shouldn't. Cosmetically wise, I found myself getting annoyed that I couldn't just be Horde Trooper or similar. The same job with cookie cutter skills existed but the spell effect and class fantasy didn't connect with me. The new coming expansion will fix this by letting us have the flexibly that caused me to ragequit in the beginning, I'll likely still file it under to little, to late.

I never really felt this was a solid Star Wars game as it felt like non-starwars fan designed it but fact of the matter is... Kind of how I never really got along with the Cartoony Saturday morning 'Clone Troopers' shows. But its Star Wars and much like anything with the name Marvel or Apple tacked on it... you will play it even if it it has a bad review.

If you do not have time to form a ganking team, this isn't really worth your time. But if you do not believe in balanced competition with fair sportmanship this may be the game for you.
