My Grandfather was a pawn stars fan his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'I’m Rick Harrison and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss, and in 23 years I’ve learned one thing. You never know what is gonna come through that door'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died after Rick said: "The best I can do is a hundred bucks." It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't walk into a pawn shop, don't let Rick know what is gonna come through that door." I agreed. At 28, I have never even walked by a pawn shop. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because I still have no idea what is going to come through that door.
