I was hoping i'd say this game is worth the hype - but it isn't. It's fine at best, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but for a game made in 2021 and a time where MMO players want more out of their experience, this just feels like an attempt at doing something different but the execution falls flat in some places.

Story: There is none. No part of me cares about the story and wants to. MMOs aren't known for their amazing stories, but I would have expected something .. epic and feel like I'm part of something bigger - for a game released in 2021, I would hope they would be more ambitious.

Gameplay: The combat is fun and different to your standard MMOs but it isn't exactly new like people to seem to think - DCUO and Guild Wars 2 had a similar combat system, but the highlighting feature is definitely the ranged weaponry. PVP feels slightly unbalanced but fun, which will be subject to change as the game grows and the level differences begin to expand between player to player. Ranged does feel weaker than melee, but I haven't played to high levels, but I expected Amazon Games to at least give me some appeal to ranged in the early game rather than having to grind to the higher levels to feel the impact. The game is grindy, but it does cater to the Runescape OGs and World of Warcraft fans.

Crafting and Gathering feels very similar to that of Runescape which isn't a bad thing because crafting and resource gathering is one of the fun things about old school Runescape - It does scratch an itch that I haven't experienced since 2005.

World: The world feels very Witcher-esque in the sense of the colour palette initially. Doesn't feel very lived in except the reliance Amazon has on the playerbase being high to hide this. The world feels very mashed up of different genres, which is fine but it doesn't blend naturally. Feels like the concept artists and writers thought of stuff they like and tried to combine it together coherent enough so it kinda makes sense.

Server: I've played on one server and couldn't get on the other because of the ridiculous queue times. Now it's reached 5pm in the UK, basically every server has a queue over thousands. This isn't great for the first day, but I can't expect everything to be perfect.

TLDR; A grindfest. Game is good for the hardcore MMO'ers, but for the casuals, it's fun for the meme and with friends but other than that.. the hype is gonna die down very quickly.
