Superb game, timeless classic. All the Definitive Edition quality of life upgrades make it nice coming back to this 20 year old game. I also feel that it makes it somewhat easier to get into playing competitively which I had never thought to do when I played this game as a kid. The active community online is great, lots of content on youtube to help newcomers into the game.

Civilizations are balanced but also different enough that they don't feel too similar for lots of replay value.

The competitive scene is entertaining with a couple large tournaments each year. It would be great if it was as big as like dota, but the player-base has grown a lot in the past year with some decent prize pools.

Before you play dota, there is an important question one must ask themselves:
Am I a soggy waffler, or a circle jerk?
If you're a circle jerk, go play LoL or you will be reported for racism.
Dota is a game for the more bold Soggy Waffler.

In dota you can't be afraid to eat the biscuit.

When you've got 4 peruvians yelling strange words like "puta" and "el tigre chompe mi familia" and "deportado! noobo!" there is nothing you can do but suck it up and eat the biscuit.

When you tower dive a russian antimage who spams "CYKA CYKA CYKA CYKA CYKA" everytime you feed and he gets away with 2 hp you can only suck it up and eat the biscuit.

When you think you're gonna have a good time, and somebody picks techies, you've got to suck it up and chomp down on that soggy biscuit.

Then just maybe, juuuuussst maybe, you might start to see the light.

Then naga siren will make you cry when you think you're going to win at 30 minutes and she drags it out to 75 and you suffer a slow and humiliating defeat.

Then you throw your computer out the window, and when you fetch out of the fresh dookie it landed in and plug that baby back in. You discover Basshunter.

and every thing becomes crystal, you realize the light you once thought you saw was a mere illusion, and now the sick awesome truths flood over your mind with the force of an erect walrus penis.

"Vi sitter här I venten och spelar lite DotA...."

Then you put it on repeat. for the next 3 months and you feel it. YOU FEEL IT BABY!
