This game is great, definitely a spin off from the main series as it is more focused on exploration, combat, and city building than it is just the farming aspect Rune Factory is known for.

I am not super into the monster hunter genre but this game was great. It is definitely an easier experience than say, Monster Hunter World, but the fights are hard enough to be a blow over.

I like to play mostly solo in games if possible and GFR lets you do that. It is harder as you near the harder difficulties as it gets to be more resource intensive to keep your party members geared with you so they can actually compete with harder fights. Surprisingly, the AI in GFR is amazing. They use all their abilities, they dodge most mechanics and as long as they are geared, they can rival the gameplay of the average player. I played my first 20 or so hours completely solo until I got to the "maniac" difficulty which is when I realized that the matchmaking and or using the GFR discord was actually a better experience.

This review is a long winded response to say, I definitely recommend GFR. The game shines in the end game as the story is relatively basic and only takes 8-10 hours to complete. The devs already announced new free content that will be coming to the game so there is always stuff to look forwards too.

For people who like progression in games, this game has a great progression system. Similar to other games in this genre, you will have to farm specific bosses for specific upgrade steps in your weapons which keeps the grind relatively fresh for awhile.

This game is fantastic. I have had an absolute blast playing it. Between the different classes, weapons, perk builds, and the rogue-lite base building feature, this game is wonderful.

The only downside to this game is the lack of content. I saw the spring update post so I am very excited for whenever that drops and to get back into the game.

I was able to beat the game (aka beat all 3 bosses currently in the game) in just over two hours. Then to complete the entire game as in upgrade the entire base with wrenches, it took me only four hours.

Even with that said, I cannot wait for more content because this game is fantastic and I will keep playing every once in awhile on the hardest difficulty just for some fun :D
