If you're a fan of the animated series, then be prepared for a disappointingly useless story.
Not that it's bad, it's just basically non-existent.
Essentially, an old guy takes your bending, you go kick his ass.
Oops, spoiler alert.
To be honest, I was expecting a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ story. They also messed that up in Metal Gear Rising (MGS fan here).

But if you think you can handle that, it's alright in the gameplay department.
Not great, but alright.
The concept certainly had A LOT more potential than this but from what I undertand, platinum had a pretty limited budget and development time with this.
So considering that and the price of the game, I can't really call it terrible.

If you're NOT a fan of the animated series and you were just looking for specticle fighters, then you really should play something else instead.
There are better specticle fighters out there (even by the same devs).
