Truthfully speaking this game is a strict downgrade from the first in most measurable ways.

Half of the weapons added to the game feel truly awful to use on a fundamental level, with the aspects doing barely anything to improve most of them leaving little to no real desire to mix and match it up. Added onto the fact that the developers seem to have made an effort to shift and change things from the first game down in variety and power, relegating gods like Artemis to random encounters you cannot upgrade or improve?

The characters are wholly insufferable. Despite the world ending because you are obligated to form relationships with the characters in your camp, half the characters you meet out in the wilds are allegedly allies that will stand in your way, consume your resources and basically act like spoilt brats leaving absolutely no desire to redeem them or really foster any relationship with them.

The entire framing of the game being the gods are under siege by chronos shifts the entire narrative and theme of the first game where playful relationships could work, into an infuriating test of patience with every single 'ally' you meet. Not only that but because the game is a rogue-like and repeatable there will certainly be little to no closure given that whatever outcome there is, the game must keep going, so it's not like you can win in a meaningful way and that will be obvious from the start.

All the game has really done to shift things gameplay wise is add a load of random resources you need to mash the use key on out in the wild.

I tried powering through the various foibles but its just so frustrating and disappointing.

Endlessly replayable, enlessly symbolic, endlessly good.
Can't fault this game, can only see the play time going up until rebirth comes out.

One of my personal favourite co-op games out right now. Not only is the concept just brilliantly executed, this game has some of the best developers ever. They are commited to adding more and more to the game and while some of it is paid, there are also many free hiests.
Comprehensive weapon modding system, well done skill system, huge difficulty. Great game, highly reccomend.

A fun game for anyone who knows the history of games and what was popular when and what works. Little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at times but for the most part a really fun game that can suck away loads of time trying to get that next great hit. Would reccomend full price, a must have if on sale. support the indie guys too.
