Well, I guess I shouldn't say they traded him for nothing - after all, they just cleared another 5-6 million of cap space off the books. Meaning, that a team that is already one of the top 5 in the league, has that much more to sign their young guns for long term, add another key veteran player...

Lots can be done with that much extra cap space.

The Bruins traded Tim Thomas today - thought you might be interested in knowing this. And...they got literally nothing in return - conditional 2nd round pick in '14 or '15 if he plays at least one game with the Islanders.
