Almost all of the elements that make up the universe and life have been created by or in stars.

Almost everything that makes up the earth and us, has been created by or in stars.

The majority have been created inside of stars during their lifespan, and released upon their death. Carbon and Nitrogen inside low mass stars like our sun. Sulfur, Oxygen, some Iron and many more are made inside high mass stars.

Some are made in more violent ways. The majority of the Iron that makes up the Earth and us was made in White Dwarf Supernovae aka Type Ia supernovae, the most violent kind of supernovae. Massive explosions unlike anything any living human has ever seen, or maybe ever will see.

Even other elements are made in Neutron Star collisions, such as Gold or Silver. These events are unimaginably violent, often leading to the creation of black holes and gravitational waves so massive, they are measurable all the way on earth.

Only a small amount of naturally occuring elements are created outside of stars. Hydrogen and Helium were made with the Big Bang, some like Plutonium are a product of radioactive decay, some exotic ones like Boron can be made via cosmic ray collisions, and some have even been made solely by humans.

What this means is that truly everything, everyone, shares this common ancestry. For all of our pretty disagreements, politics and religions, we all originate from, and eventually return to, the stars.

As Carl Sagan famously put, "We are made of starstuff"
