A 10/10 experience that has defined the "indie pixel art" genre for me. Music and exploration expand this game beyond its percieved mundane art style, and punishing combat keeps you coming back for the perfect dungeon or boss clear.

Playing the game a second time after learning about the lead developer's real-life troubles and how the game acts as an allegory for his despair and hope is what elevates the game for me, both in understanding the world you've found yourself in, the goals you work toward as the Wanderer and the ending.

On sale or not, you owe it to yourself to set aside a few evenings to play this game.
