I'd say it's okay for its price, if a bit unremarkable. All in all, I enjoyed reading it.
Though generic, the story manages to be charming in a way: you and your friends live your everyday lives and think about what will you do after high school. Everyone except for you is some sort of monster, though it makes no difference whatsoever. Fret not though, you're special too: you happen to be biggest absolute moron in Japan; Kokoro is indeed the kindest, bestest person ever for putting up with your incompetent self. She's indeed a treasure, you won't help but love her.
Speaking of, while only a handful, the other characters are pretty likeable too. Masato's a bro (even if at some point he may not look like it) and Itsumi is the cutest bat imouto you'll ever meet. The teacher is... there, can't really say I remember if he did anything at all.
The game is very short: even if you take your time reading it may take you an hour at most. There is literally only one (very obvious) choice at the end of the visual novel. The CG art is decent at most points, but the music is completely forgettable.

This is a tough one to recommend. On one hand, this is a pretty lazy port, the sound quality is atrocious and the controls have some minor issues. But on the other hand, this is arguably one of the best installments in the series, and other than the sound, the game runs perfectly fine.

In the end, I'm going with "yes", but only if you can't get the original version. Also, installing a music mod is a must.

If you take the time to read the text below the boobies, you may find out Sakura Angels is actually quite funny (it did make me laugh a couple times, at least). Unfortunately it's rather short and lacks replay value, but at least it manages to get the "love comedy" part right.

For fans of the Nerd, definitely. The references alone will make it worth it.
Now, for those who are more interested in the gameplay than in the scatological humor, I think the platforming is pretty solid. It is ludicrously difficult, but it's not as cheap as you may expect from a game with a premise like this. Sure, there are some parts where you can't help but get hit (one of the witches in the last section of Beat'em and Eat'em springs to mind), but for the most part it's all about timing and pattern recognition. Some people might complain about the instant death blocks, but I didn't mind them.
The graphics are pure 16-bit goodness, but the real highlight here is no doubt the music. The theme songs for Thy Farts Be Consumed and Laughing Joking Numbnuts are just amazing.
My biggest complaint are perhaps the controls. The characters could use a bit more traction, and there are times when they don't turn around when you tell them to (this is mostly noticeable in boss battles). That being said, this doesn't completely ruin your experience like in other games.

So in short: yes, I would recommend this game to those looking for a challenge, though it's best enjoyed if you're familiar with the series.
