Great game, terrible EULA.
Don't install this (or any other Gearbox/2K game) unless you want your bank information stolen and sold. Pretty crazy how many Gearbox employees and paid reviewers are coming out of the woodwork to gaslight everyone into thinking this isn't a big deal.

Note that this game is not free to play. Its actual pricetag is, at minimum, $200-$300 if you're pretty frugal with wildcards. This isn't very bad actually, compared to the price of paper magic (it's comparable to the cost of building a single standard deck).

A few years back I had to make a choice between investing in this game and investing in Magic Online. I chose Arena because I thought MTGO was on its last legs and that WotC would be eventually porting all the old cards to Arena. I chose incorrectly. WotC has been content to trickle-feed us the old cards we actually want at a rate of 1-3 per year. Despite introducing the Timeless format, WotC has done nothing to support it since the format's inception. In the last few years card design has declined in quality rapidly, power creep has gotten worse (particularly with regard to 1-drop creatures) and the constant crossovers and cashgrabs are downright insulting. Hasbro seems intent on destroying WotC for short-term profits. They've actively done everything they can to eliminate the secondary market and destroy local game stores in order to boost MTGA sales.
But most importantly, by relentlessly catering to its casual audience, modern WotC has *completely* misunderstood what makes Magic superior to other trading card games: its resource system. It might come as a surprise to many new players, but Lands, Land Destruction and prison decks consistently create the most intricate and enjoyable game experiences. New players hate this playstyle and so it has been neglected and sidelined, leading to a proliferation of non-interactive combo decks dominating the metagame.


I am corrupt. I was bought. The price was 4x Strip Mine and 4x Wrenn and Six. If WotC gives me Balance and Smokestack I'll kill anyone they want me to.

Not a bad game, just a mediocre one. Great soundtrack. Unfortunately due to recent changes in the EULA this game is now malware/spyware.
