Half Life Alyx is the game that you always wanted to see.
For me personally, I've had VR for about a year and haven't used it that much, it didn't have that "Mario 64" type game to really show what VR can do.
This game is that type of game.
Most VR games are usually small arena games that you can usually squeeze about 4 hours out of. Multiplayer games are fun as well, but it doesn't show everything vr can be.
Half Life Alyx is what the first VR headsets should've launched with. It shows how you can engage much more in vr and how VR offers so much more.

[Gameplay]

Half Life Alyx at its core is a VR shooter, but it has the older horror elements of the original half life as well. Seeing a headcrab launch at your face is one of the best things I have seen in vr. You are actually there experiencing everything, you can touch, lean around corners, explore the envorment, and much more.

[Story/ characters]

Don't want to give too much away but this story is probably best of 2020. Also Rhys Darby being Russel absolutley kills it in this game. The only thing I wish is that they got the origanal va for Alyx, the new va is great but nobody can replace the original va.

[Sound Design / Music]
I played this game on the index so sound design might differ between headsets. But with a index the sound design is incredible, it sounds like combine soldiers are booming right near that wall while bullets wizz by your head. The music is also great, with the ending theme and music near the end being standouts.

Overall Half Life Alyx really is what Half Life fans and VR owners have been waiting for. The only thing holding down this game is that it released in 2020 and not earlier or later. With COVID it is much harder to get a VR headset and more people to experience it, it is a crime for people to not be able to access this game. I hope this helps VR become more widespread because this is a definite addition to your collection.

Game is a classic, it maybe a lil confusing for you first couple hours, but get a hang of it and you will fall in love with this game
