Just incredible. I came into this as a fan of the anime for years, however I never got around to the VN until now. Absolutely worth every penny, even if you're not overly-familiar with visual novels.

For those unfamiliar with the anime, it starts out as a seemingly typical high school romance story, and of course since it's a visual novel you have an array of girls to choose as potential romantic options. Each has a distinct personality and appearance, and they're all fairly likeable characters. However where this VN shines, for me at least, is the writing and the music. It had good comedic timing when it wanted me to laugh, and it punched me right in the gut when it wanted me to cry. And you will cry if you invest enough time into this VN, both from joy and sadness. The music is the cherry on top in this regard - the soundtrack for this is absolutely fantastic and perfectly encapsulates the emotions being conveyed by the story. I won't say too much more as this really is a story best experienced blind, however know that you will have an incredibly worthwhile experience if you give it time.

For non-VN gamers - you do need to complete every route in order to unlock the game's "true" ending and some of the routes are quite difficult to achieve - there are plenty of spoiler-free walkthroughs on this game's guide page here on Steam so don't feel afraid to use those if you get stuck.

For those familiar with the anime - this is still an absolutely worthwhile purchase. There is of course a lot more depth added for each individual character here than the anime can possibly manage in its far more limited run-time. Characters like Akio, Sanae, Tomoyo, Koumura and Yoshino all get a lot more content here than in the anime. There are a couple of minor things I prefer about the anime, the way it amalgamates all the routes in season 1 makes some of the moments in Afterstory a little bit nicer than in the game IMO, but that's a fairly nitpicky complaint. However, there are also elements of the plot progression I think the VN does much better. If it's been a little while since you last watched the anime, absolutely pick this up, regardless of whether or not it's on sale it's worthwhile.

Really my only complaint about the game itself is there is a fairly noticeable amount of typos and translation errors at times, but you can usually spot them from context so it doesn't majorly impact the experience.

10/10

Absolutely fantastic game from Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks. Fun gameplay that's like Devil May Cry but a bit easier for people like me who are ♥♥♥♥ at Devil May Cry, excellent soundtrack, pretty good writing, just a solid game all-round that evidently had a lot of love put into it. Very reminiscent of the PS2-era of gaming.

The fact Microsoft shuttered such a talented studio after such a well-received release is all you need to know about the modern AAA industry.

I have very little complaints about the actual game but the performance is quite tragic, noticeably worse than the base game, with my FPS often halving where on the base game such drops were extremely rare. I'd like to recommend the DLC but it is really being held back by these performance issues atm. Also task manager says the game uses 0% of my GPU, which seems quite odd.

Specs for anyone wondering:
Geforce RTX 3080
Ryzen 7 5800x @4.0GHz
32GB DDR4 RAM

I'm heavily biased as these games were very much part of my childhood growing up with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop that could only run flash games. Having them all preserved in a reasonably priced collection like this is very cool.

If you didn't grow up playing these games then maybe just grab it on sale. They're fun enough but they get very grindy and samey towards the end-game (especially Swords & Sandals 3 after the skills bug was fixed). I like the little bit of remastering that was done for 1 though I wish 2 had gotten the same treatment rather than the weird redux version (which isn't included in this collection). Also nice that saving in Swords & Sandals 4 actually works now.

If you want something brainless to play while listening to a podcast or some other long form audio/video content, then they work quite well for that.

Decent and worth £2 but I wish there was some kind of indication as to what the game considers a "better" solution for certain levels as it feels a bit arbitrary sometimes.

CK3 isn't a bad game, if it's your first venture into the series you'll probably love it. But as a veteran CK and Paradox grand strategy fan in general, this game is still in a bit of a disappointing state.

They added a lot of nice quality of life changes and there are a few cool additions - but I really don't like the direction the major DLCs have been going in. Instead of substantive strategical content it's been roleplay busy-work - CK has always been the game where the roleplay aspect is the most heavily emphasised, however there's only so many times you can rip me out of the map screen to send me to a completely different screen to tell farmer John off and lose 5 prestige before I get sick of it.

I don't necessarily mind the content added in the DLCs in of itself, I just dislike how instrusive it is during gameplay (especially in multiplayer) and I question how needed it is when major features from CK2 are still missing, i.e. everything outside of Catholic Europe still feels extremely hollow to play, where are societies and clans, where are legendary bloodlines, hell where is China and Japan, something CK fans have been wanting for ages. There's more surviving written history on China than there is pre-Mughal India and that's in the game.

All that being said I sincerely want this game to surpass CK2 in quality because there is cool changes in here that aren't present or possible in CK2, but I just question as to whether or not current day Paradox can achieve that.

tl;dr game is good and if you're new to the series you'll like it, but I'd recommend playing CK2 with all the DLC over this. It's a much more complete experience and if you can get past the lack of some nice CK3 quality of life features you'll get a hell of a lot more out of it, especially if you want to play outside of Europe. The DLCs usually go cheap in steam sales.

It's like if Sonic and Wario Land had a child and that child grew up exclusively watching late 90's/early 00's cartoon network shows.

good ♥♥♥♥

GAME IS COMPLETELY DEAD IN TERMS OF POPULATION

I wish I could leave a review as neutral but alas. Probably the best Town of Salem-like game I've played, when it actually had players a few years back. Game is completely and utterly dead now, with steamcharts estimating it as having an average of 2 players a day. Seems the devs have tried their best to pump it full of new life, even making it free to play, but it hasn't saved the game.

It's a shame but it does happen. Still a fun game if you can convince a large group of friends to get on it however - it being free to play has made that easier.
