Unfun, unpolished and full of bugs.
Makes sure to hammer it home by burning your retinas with a final level that's just the color white and you can't see where you're going.

Note for completionists:
Has missable achievements, no chapter select and requires multiple playthroughs.

Gameplay-wise it's pretty solid, swinging in the city feels good and combat was alright.
Story-wise it was very generic, boring and isn't the strong suit of this game.

But the reason for the negative review is that the experience is sullied by the absolutely horrible port.
Before even starting the game, opening the settings in the launcher almost crashed my PC and caused the fans to go crazy.
So I never touched that again, but it continued inside the game in the form of massive frame drops and freezes even in cutscenes and also crashed multiple times.

On top of that I've encountered some of the most random bugs such as subtitles stop working on a specific mission, camera won't open on a mission where you need to take pictures or not being able to continue after solving a puzzle and having to restart the game.

Addendum: I already completed the game yesterday but they seem to have released a minor patch to fix a bug with button combinations today, though they still haven't touched the others I've seen which when I googled them I found out some still exist from the PS4 version release.

Either wait until this is heavily discounted or just pirate it.



I originally wrote this review in 2022 but wasn't able to publish it since I played it through family share, don't know why I can post it now but I'm leaving it as is.

Since a few years have passed I don't know if any of the bugs I encountered are fixed but seeing many were ported over from even older versions I'd wager that they're still there.

TL;DR: Good game, bad bugs.

Pleasantly surprised with how well this game held up and how much I enjoyed it.

It's a very simple puzzle game that feels almost collectathon-y, you solve puzzles by stacking into larger nesting dolls with unique abilities.
There are multiple solutions to each puzzle and the game encourages you to complete them all, find all the unique dolls, and complete all the secret challenges in each level.

It's a bit janky and dated partly due to being locked to a choppy 30 FPS, but increasing the FOV and using Lossless Scaling to double the frames mostly solved everything and it played well enough after that.

Note for completionists:
No missables and you can freely travel between levels after completing them, fun game to 100%.

Feels like an early access game, it was left in a completely broken state (it basically got 1-2 patches post release and then abandoned).
It's a shame since the core gameplay is pretty good but the game is too unpolished and full of bugs.

  • Performance is terrible, there are memory leak issues and the longer you play the more the game stutters, to the point it becomes unplayable so you constantly need to relaunch the game.
  • Rebinding keys is broken, pressing the default key triggers both the old and new actions. Some buttons don't even have a glyph and just display a blank square.
  • Sometimes the pause menu can glitch during a run where you can't close the menu but the game keeps running in the background, forcing you to relaunch the game or lose the run.
  • Some settings don't save properly, every time I launch the game I get ear blasted until I open the settings menu and they get applied.
  • Can't switch between keyboard & mouse and controller, you have to relaunch for that, but sometimes they just randomly stop working anyway.
  • Scroll wheel doesn't work in menus.
  • Basically zero information about what any stats mean or what things do, you can't even tell what upgrades you have during a run unless you memorize the icons.

None of the bugs mentioned above are rare, these are all things that were happening on a regular basis when I played.
Based on that I can only recommend to stay away from this.

Got it on a whim and didn't know what to expect but it ended up being underwhelming.
I saw it being described as a puzzle / metroidvania, but it isn't that great as either.

It's slow paced with too much time spent on roaming and dialoguing before you get to build something.
It usually doesn't really matter what you build, you're given a selection of parts and a limited area size per build but other than that it doesn't feel like anything you do has any consequences.
Most of the things you will build can be summed into make something to walk over or have it support weight without breaking.

There are maybe three occasions in the whole game where you get the opportunity to feel clever with what you're building.
When tasked with making a bridge or stairs to progress, you can sometimes branch out to reach an optional collectible. In my opinion, this is the most fun thing to do in a game like this and should have been a core experience and it's a shame that it isn't.

Then when you're done building, the rest of the game consists mainly of lots of backtracking as you unlock all five abilities.
Only after finishing the story can you actually go back and collect everything, but besides achievements there isn't really anything else to do at that point.

There's also the issues of bad camera and build controls while having no option to bind keys and the occasional bugs in build mode.

It's not a bad game, but unless you're really into LEGO or enjoy building I don't think there's too much to look for here.

Note for completionists:
No missables, but tedious. Finish the game and then start cleaning up all remaining collectibles.
The achievement for smashing all destroyables can be easy to miss and there's no way to track it.

Short speedrunning platformer with great movement.
There are 10 levels that you could easily finish under 1-2 hours and if you only wish to play it to the end and then call it a day then you might find it a little lackluster, but if you're willing to dig a little deeper it can be very rewarding.

I would divide it into four different levels of challenge that can dramatically ramp up the difficulty and replayability:
1. Simply reach the ending.
2. Collect all relic parts and unlock all upgrades.
3. Get all achievements.
4. Compete for a spot in the leaderboards.

After completing all levels and finding all relics you can max out your upgrades and explore the full potential of movement in this game, if you're looking for more I recommend at least attempting that.
The atmosphere and soundtrack are also great and really put you in the right mood (the cutscenes and voice acting could use a little more work, though they aren't really the main point of this game).

The developer is very active on Discord, constantly engaging with the players about how to balance the game and has released a roadmap with more features coming in the future.

Note for completionists:
Has difficult and missable achievements that require a fresh save (i.e. beat the game under 30 min/without upgrades/without dying).

A basic puzzle game with a cozy aesthetic, while the art style and the mischievous cats resemble A Little to the Left this is strictly a jigsaw puzzle and not a logic puzzle game.

Picking up pieces is a bit scuffed and some of the later levels get a little lazy with random shapes that are too small but it was generally fine.
I've only tried the base game but maybe the DLC levels are higher quality.
Even though it's short it's nice that level progress gets saved if you quit.

Note for completionists:
No missables.
Paid DLCs not required for achievements.

Pretty mediocre, not necessarily bad but it's just a very plain and casual platformer.

It's very short and very easy, combat is basically just button mashing and I doubt you could die if you tried so this might be a decent recommendation for kids.
The platforming and movement feel nice but the game is janky and has some issues.
Cutscenes sometimes glitch out although you can pause during them so that's nice.

But it's inexcusable how bad the save system is, the game only auto-saves during main story checkpoints, so if you stop to do anything else and decide you wanna take a break you could end up losing some progress.
This also means that if you finish the story you essentially can't save anymore if you're missing something.
At one time it only saved part of my progress but loaded me back to an older location with enemies attacking me while being locked in a dialogue screen.
This has been already mentioned in the forums years ago and has not been (and likely won't ever be) fixed.

Overall it's alright if you get it on sale but asking $30 for this game is a scam.

Note for completionists:
Has no missables, just make sure you finish everything you need before completing the story.
You don't even need to do any side quests for 100%, just need to finish the main story, beat 4 speed trial challenges and exhaust the dialogue with an NPC.

Super stylish speedrunning game, very short but great fun!

If you just try to get to the end you won't find too much here as there's only 10 short levels, but figuring out how to get gold in each level was very rewarding.
Pretty impressive for a student project!

Note for completionists:
Has no missables and has level select, but it looks like replaying a level can overwrite it's medal (doesn't affect best time) and can interfere with the TRUE BEETLE achievement.

I found out about this game through an online post from the dev and I was intrigued by the unique style and simulated graphics and I mean, it's impressive and very cheap right now but it's still missing a fair bit.

UI/UX is lacking the most, there's major issues with readability and clarity of what's happening on screen at times and a lot of information is poorly explained or missing.

Gameplay/Balance-wise it's not as bad but there's only a small amount of core mechanics and it feels like an even smaller amount of them are actually viable to the point where I can pretty consistently go AFK if I get 2-3 specific powers but struggle if I get anything else.

The sound design pretty nice, although the directional audio is kinda jarring and probably was better left out.

Right now there's only 1 achievement for finishing a run with every mutation which takes maybe 2-3 hours and by then you've more than seen everything it has to offer.

It's enjoyable for what it is right now, but I'm interested in seeing how it would look like after more time in the oven.
