Honestly, it's really very fun.

Are there bugs? Sure.
Could the optimization be better? Absolutely.
Are the multiplayer servers steady? Mostly.
But it is worth it? Definitely.

The only issues I have with the game itself are fixable and not game-breaking for me. Other people will have different experiences depending on their hardware, internet speed, and game preferences. But this may be the be-all end-all of FromSoftware's catalog thus far. It's surprisingly accessible (relatively speaking) to the point where my elder sister, who's never played any RPG besides Skyrim, is getting into it. The learning curve is steep but it is extraordinarily satisfying if you stick it out.

I'm a fan of the Dark Souls series but I've mostly just played them online with friends. With Elden Ring, I find myself drawn into the world and gameplay to the point where I don't want distraction. I'd rather fight the same boss 20 odd times by myself just to say that I did it. If you let your curiosity fly free and persevere, it may be one of the most memorable gaming experiences of your lifetime.

It's not for everyone, but it's worth a try.
