We're coming up on 14 years of this game being out, I just gave it another playthrough because at this point you have to every couple years, and man I think it's aged like wine. When I was a kid, I remember being hype as hell for this game to come out when that first teaser came out. What was the big deal anyway? You just shoot portals after staring at white and black walls while being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at by a passive aggressive AI all day. What gives?

There is something about the unique blend of Valve creative direction and gameplay logic that makes the Portal games ascend past a simple FPS puzzle game. It's never extremely challenging of a game, but just enough where every new mechanic is used in a fresh and interesting way with zero handholding. The voice acting from Ellen McLain creates one of the most believeable AI characters in any game I've played and sets up the atmosphere for these games masterfully. You get to a point where you forget you're playing a puzzle game because you want to progress and watch the story unravel as fast as you can. For as short as these games are, it makes each section almost iconic because of what is being told more so than what you just solved. The story going on here isn't the most deep thing ever, but the dynamic of everyone involved and tiny things added in makes it such a nice treat every time. I love the fact that nearly every segment has extra lines for characters if you simply wait around enough or do something extra not required to solve the puzzle. I love how much weight the protagonist adds to the game as a mute who can only put two portals on walls, yet feels entirely involved and responsible for most of the story. Everyone knows Portal is good, but everytime I come back I just go DAMN. I miss Valve storytelling, polish, direction. I think the best indicator for a masterpiece game is one you wish you could forget your first playthrough and Portal 2 will always be that for me.

I'm going to be honest, I don't mind gacha games when they make sense. You don't have to like them, but some people pay money to play a TCG going for cards all day, if you fall prey to gambling that's ultimately on you, sorry lol.

That being said, for being a gacha, this game is just lame. The only designed characters are seemingly the five stars. The four stars in this game are just generic units with no personality or real development and that's sad. When other gacha games even put effort into 1-4 star units, it makes me not really want to play. The gameplay is pretty interesting for a SRPG and the pixel art is beautiful, but I think I can agree that this game didn't need to be a gacha. Theres menu on menus and currency on currency and it's extremely unappealing.

More content than the last game while in Early Access, Amazing VA work, beautiful art, solid game feel. I think the numbers on the God Boons / Buffs need some tuning to be nearly as engaging as the last game to be on par with the heat system, as everything feels a lot slower and a lot of runs just feel like you are earning resources and not really progressing anything, but for whats here for 30$ with a promise of more to come? Absolutely phenomenal.

Haven't had this much fun in an FPS since Xbox 360 days. Prox Mic is a blessing, I have had 0 bad hitreg, servers handle 200+ players flawlessly, and because healing and rezzing gives so much exp you will see homies running from Narnia to hit that rez on you. Crazy how a voxel shooter made by literally 3 people is more enjoyable than anything released in the last 3 years by triple A studios

I haven't played much of this game yet, but I will tell you one thing:

When I want to play something casually and play a shooter just to have fun, I'm booting this game up instead of the other shooters that have come out lately. It's very hard to have fun in CoD and other games where the playerbase is pretty damn good when I really don't feel like playing to the point where I become sweaty at the game, I just need an arcadey shooter thats just straight up fun to play, and even when I get sweated on in this game I'm still chillin.

The PVE rewards should be better or at least reward in a way that you can only get from PVE, but I'm sure with time this game will touch on that.
