By far the greatest game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Abiotic Factor is breathtakingly elegant in all of its components, it's funny, it's eerie, it's spectacle and dread. The lore is compelling, the gameplay is wonderful, and if I could I'd spend hours just writing this review listing all the reasons why I sing its praises so highly.

Regrettably, I can't stop playing it, so this short and uninformative little "gloat-piece" is all I can muster before I am sucked back into GATE's incredibly well designed underground facilities.

Stay safe Science Team.

After the disaster that was the release of Season 2, it's no wonder the title remains at "Mixed" reviews at the time of writing, one quick look at the review graph for the game tells it all.

The overall fan reaction to Season 2 of Tekken 8 was such that the game's main balancing team was entirely replaced with employees that had previously worked on Tekken titles in the past, but was such reaction to Season 2 warranted?

Yes!

Not only did they increase the game's focus on aggressiveness and non-stop offense, but they directly LIED to the fans saying that "Season 2 would see defensive options increased and revamped." Throughout the marketing campaign for it, the Tekken spokes-people continuously refused to show this "buffed defense," and every single time would showcase new and improved ways they were increasing offensive focus. The fanbase held its breath tightly awaiting the release of Season 2 with a healthy dose of hopium, praying that these so-called improved defensive options just hadn't been showcased.

Sadly, by the release of Season 2, that hope turned into rage, as a solid percentage of the fanbase realized that almost every single change and addition in Season 2 was created with a single-focus: Simplification and Offense.

Since then, things have been better however, patches have crawled us back to a solid place once more, the game that had been horribly butchered is starting to piece itself back together, even if slowly. The new DLC characters, once the focus of so many fears, have turned out to be incredibly healthy for the game, no doubt thanks to many changes done by the new/old balancing team. If you were to ask me after the release of Season 2 if I had any hope left for this sad sad excuse of a game, I'd probably take a day to piece my thoughts together, but now I do have hope.

Tekken 8 has the foundation to be the greatest Tekken ever made, from the mechanics to the cast, it can all be balanced to be what every Tekkenhead has hoped for, all I can do is pray that the developers realize what makes Tekken so great and roll back on the baffling decisions of Season 2, something every patch since then has thankfully done, even if at a slow pace.

Things are looking bright once more, even if that brightness is dim, and even if many still cannot see it, rightfully blinded by what the game had become.

I'm holding my breath for the changes coming in the future, and for the decisions the Tekken Team will take regarding their flagship title, as they have shown both capability and unwillingness, potential and inaptitude.

Mixed signals. Just like the reviews to Tekken 8.

I was gonna write a long winded review about why Stellaris is probably the best Strategy game I've ever played, but I find myself at a lack of words to describe how utterly incredible it is.

Stellaris has no equal when it comes to Sci-Fi Strategy games. It stands head and shoulders above the rest. It provides a level of freedom of approach and sheer diversity that no other game can ever hope to provide.

One could criticize Paradox's approach on releasing DLC after DLC for years on their games, but one thing is certain, Stellaris has grown immensely since launch, I don't think a single other game could ever reach the heights that Stellaris does, even if it does so at a steep price.

Stellaris is quality and quantity, the game has been taken care with love and attention by it's developers, the DLCs - although of iffy quality sometimes - add an insane amount of replayability and diversity to an already incredibly expansive game.

If you want a Sci-Fi Strategy game, one that gives you the freedom to play however you want, one that'll surprise you with new things for years, one with an active modding scene that elevates an already great game into an endless abyss of content, then get this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game now. Seriously. Just do it.

(Maybe wait for a sale and get the whole package with all DLC, pretty pricey I know, but you won't be disappointed)

This game is not worth its current price to the vast majority of the MK fanbase.

Mortal Kombat has forever been THE casual fighting game, huge playerbase, massive appeal, etc. I find it quite puzzling since the game isn't necessarily easy or "dumbed down" like a lot of japanese FGs are trying to do to bring in the casual crowd, its the average MK experience with some characters requiring quite a bit of execution - Kenshi comes to mind for example - yet even then it wasn't just the mechanics that brought in the casual crowd, it was the single-player content MK was known for. A vast campaign, a somewhat decent plot, some kind of single-player enjoyable content like The Krypt, Test Your Might, the fatalities, the unlockable character customization, and so on.

This entry in the series though while it does live up in expectations for a good fighting game, hell it might even be the best systems MK has ever had, it does not provide quality single-player content to warrant a purchase from the vast majority of the fanbase.

After the grandiose success of SF6 and its reinventing of the FG single-player experience, MK1 simply fails to provide even a smidgeon of content when compared to Capcom's masterpiece, and while it does have deep and engaging systems for players who ARE interested in the "fighting" aspect, the character customization and single-player content has very little enjoyment to be had for the average buyer.

Invasions are a weak replacement for The Krypt, they're incredibly slow and uninteresting to progress through and feel tacked on amidst a game begging for real content. It has a ton of unnecesary fights and really annoying "effects" during the fights that make them incredibly annoying to do. Especially the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow effect, that one sucks.

The multiplayer also has its issues, the ranking system is very barebones and doesn't have a per-character rank so you're always scared of trying new things, the connection to the servers too was very poor during launch, but that has since been fixed. Lobbies have also not returned, which makes the experience of playing against friends inherently frustrating since everyone just has to matchmake each other through the friend list.

Overall the multiplayer aspect of the game is incredibly outdated even when compared to older titles like Skullgirls, Tekken 7 or even MK11!

With all that said tho, I do recommend it. Even with all of these issues I've still been massively enjoying it, I feel like my money was well spent because the GAME part of the game is incredible, I love fighting games and this one is no exception. Maybe I'm biased since MK has never dumbed down its mechanics, but everytime I play it I just have fun. The characters, the kombos, the kameo system, everything related to the FIGHTING aspect is just fantastic. The balancing of characters and assists is the best NRS has ever had (not as good as SF6 but better than NRS's previous titles) and the visuals and animations have greatly improved.

I've never been a fan of MK so this lack of content doesn't affect me in the slightest, all I wanted was a good fighting game and I got it. If however you're looking for single-player "kontent" like in SF6, or even like in previous entries to the series you might be sorely disappointed. I, however, really really like it.
