Slower gameplay than the typical shooter, but makes for some pretty epic experiences.

Fun game if you're wanting a military vehicle sim. Very grindy, don't expect to obtain any top tier vehicles quickly without opening your wallet.

Game still holds up after years, lots of content, both original and licensed. It is a game that is very simple in its mechanics but has a lot of depth. Overall a solid game to pick up if you're a fan of any horror genre titles or asymmetrical games.

Solid gameplay, entirely free and really if you don't want to spend a dime, you don't need to to enjoy this.

Great game, although maybe a little daunting to new players. Once you take the time to learn and start to progress, there is a ton to offer here. Only gets better with friends!

As a play for free game, Hawken is a decent choice. It reminded me a lot of the original mech assault, except for the view is from within the cockpit.

The only downsides to this, is because of the free to play nature, you have to buy all upgraded mechs and weapons. This wouldn't be so bad, however it takes a fair amount of time to accumulate any in-game currency. If you manage to have an idea on how you plan to play, it isn't so bad as you can buy any mech you want in no particular order, so you don't have to wait to be able to up your game.

Other than that, there are plenty of maps, and several good gametypes. The graphics are great for a free game, and I didn't experience any notable gliches. Overall, I recommend you give it a shot if any sort of mech FPS is up your alley.
