i went into this as someone who used to struggle horribly with the original hollow knight. this is wholeheartedly an amazing experience and while there is a small bit of jank, it's insane to me how they just crammed more and more content in while keeping it decently paced. i took my time and i'm not done exploring, but every time i do i keep finding new and exciting things that make me want to go further. i love this and am excited for any new content to come.

Currently my only problems with this game are that supreme kai isn't in the base roster, and i have to make the game look like ♥♥♥♥ in order to get a constant 50~ fps on the hyperbolic time chamber stage. otherwise? sincerely the best dragon ball game i've ever played, and the sheer amount of detail put into character interactions ALONE should be enough to show any potential buyers that they genuinely put time and effort into this game. the difficulty in some episode battles and how the story as a whole slowly ramps up reminds me of secret hunting on the PS2 in the most frustrating and best way possible, and i could not recommend it more.

this game is in pre-release and the only issue i have as a linux user is the fps. that's amazing for a bandai release.

EDIT: my review shall stay the same, but i've noticed that the steam deck can't connect to any online matches. This is due to what i'm assuming is a desync, as i tested with a friend on a windows PC and we were able to stay in the match as long as they didn't move. the second they touched their controller, we got a disconnect. i could move and fly around however i wanted, but it only happened when they did anything. i hope this issue is resolved as i mainly got this game to play with my friends, and now i can't even do that.
