Look, the uniqueness and excellence of the game’s art style and execution, voice acting, and characters is undeniable. I wish it was just a movie to be honest.

The gameplay itself is lackluster and absolutely inundating with bloated reward systems that actively detract from the experience. Every corner there’s one of the dozen resources to collect that all are essentially EXP. No clever placements, really, just an absolute chore collecting all the superfluous little danglies that help me level up one way or another. And with these levels, I get to upgrade the underwhelming abilities.

It feels like they tacked on so many levels and systems with no clear purpose or direction as to how they contribute to the game. Why take the user from important missions to sorting mailroom boxes like a toddler putting the triangular box in the triangular hole? Why am I spending most of my gametime collecting shinies? At this point, why not just let the fantastic art team make a movie, or just keep the combat upgrades to unlocking new abilities? The number of menus and popups and bloat is just obscene given the simple nostalgic complexity of the game to me.

What a hidden gem. Unique dialogue paired with an equally unique physics-driven gameplay. It’s great to jksee just how much it expands on just a single fun mechanic.

This game felt like tedious work to me. And, hey, maybe farming games just aren’t my thing, but I found this game tough to play. Not much pushed me along. The dialogue was uninteresting, the story was stale and predictable. Playing felt like grinding for the sake of unlocking a new facet of the magic system, which was disappointing to me given that unlocked a spell/potion meant another thing to grind towards.

Nonetheless, the wide diversity of the characters is underscored by full-game voice acting, and that I really enjoyed.

If I wanted to do work, I would go to (irl) work. Again, that’s just me! A ton of people have this as their favorite game in the cozy genre and you might too!

This game was such a surprise! The art, voice acting, and typography all perfect supported the main mechanic of fixing broken items. I honestly think there is little to critique in this game—the length and scope feels perfect for what it tries to accomplish, which it does so meaningfully without being too sappy or cliche. This is what I wish more “cozy” games were like quite frankly: unique, wholesome stories without sacrificing quality design and mechanics.

I solve puzzles for a living, I love problem-solving. This game lacks well-defined problems and then limits clever solutions. Many official solutions are questionable at best, or manifest to me as simple “I guess that does fit like that, sure, whatever.” Sometimes they affirm you for correct placements, sometimes they do not. Sometimes the whisk was supposed to be place where the spatula was for no clear reason. Sometimes you placed something a millimeter off from god’s official placement.

The game feels like being evaluated by a primary school teacher who decides whether you’ve solved a question that was never specifically state the “correct” way: some of the problems have dozens of potential solutions, and you just hope that the pattern your brain saw was in-fact one of the (typically 1-3) official solutions. Why make make an abstract pattern-recognition game, and only allow 1-3 patterns as solutions? When the problem isn’t specified, there are infinitely many solutions. Overall more frustrating than intellectually interesting in attempt to be “cozy.”

Picked this up (virtually) right after enjoying the hit cozy-fantasy book “Legends and Lattes” and this hit for me in a very similar way: interpersonal connection in a cozy coffee shop. The fantasy elements are fresh but maintain fairly realistic but interesting conversations. The drink-making was a perfect mechanic to split up long dialogue reading. For me this game was a pretty perfect visual novel, although I must admit I wish a character or two would have been replaced with something a little bit less absurd.

I didn't know what to expect, but I've never seen such a relatable depiction of mental illness, especially ocd. Very interesting.

This game could mean nothing and anything, but it reminded me of Gris and the general idea of building yourself up from nothing. The music feels positive and inspiring, and builds as we rebuild the land. The achievements mirror this sentiment: "What makes you, you?", "Do you do what you love?", "Who do you love?".

This game is odd, short, and more of an experience that allows for self-reflection and sort of meditation, despite that the game made me feel anxiety for some reason. Overall, something different here.
