Google "Flammarion Engraving." You've probably seen the image, that is this game in a nutshell. The mystic, seeking to peer beyond the firmament of reality.

Your journey will bring you as deep within the bowels of the earth, to the deep vastness of space, and in the same day, to a parallel world, nearly identical to the one you came from.

You will fight all manner of foe, you will learn to manipulate the winds of magic to do nearly anything your mind can come up with. You will be covered in nearly every fluid you can think of, and some that you can't. You can eat the fairest and the foulest of substances.

You might find the favor of the Gods in your journeys, but you may just as well find their burning ire. If you stick with it long enough though, even the divinities will come to fear you, or at least find you to be quite the curiosity.

You may even cheat death, but only once you have been bested by her many times over. The highs will feel much higher due to how low this world will lay you, over, and over, and over.

Eventually you may even remake the world anew, bringing peace to all under the light of a new star, will you be a God then? Or will you still just be a pitiful human? Who is to say? Most certainly not the old gods, you have shown them that their works are but child's play compared to your might.

This game will bend you over its knee and make you wish you were never born, but it can also give you the most wild sense of accomplishment that I think any game ever can or will. It is a life lesson, wrapped in a puzzle, wrapped in a roguelite platformer.

This game really is an 11/10 sort of title.

It makes the brain go zoomy, it's blissful, it feels like sticking your face into the armpit of a goddess and taking a deep, deep whiff, and then she tells you you're a good girl, annihilating your ego as you elevate to the level of demigod.

Suddenly she slaps you, hard in the face, she yells at you "You have been playing for 16 hour(s). Don't forget to have a FICSIT Protein Bar. Now with 10% more natural ingredients!"

You Fall. Backwards, into open space, plummeting. You gasp for air, "oh" you think to yourself, you have lungs again, you are back in the material plane and it is 5am. You must be at work in 3 hours...

..However, very good news, you have fully automated and balanced the inputs on a new nuclear power facility, and you just got your first converters making ficsite, congratulations, you are in the top 5% of pioneers, remember earth needs you, and if you fails -everyone- will die. See you after work champ, the factory must grow.

I want to share this game with all of my friends, and also to protect those I love from it, simultaneously.

11/10 it's like digital cocaine, the highs and the lows. You should probably play it if you've made it this far.

Leathal Company is great for fooling around with friends, and playing various roles without having to learn some complex system like most multiplayer spaceship crew games. The monsters are quite original takes on existing archtypes of horror threat, plus a few extra wacky ones that are pretty original. The tools that they give you are so basic that you really need to work together with friends to be successful. I'm excited to see what other ways the game gets developed as time goes on.

The modding community for this game is also nothing to sneeze at, the mods are varied and interesting, sellable creature corpses has been my favorite so far, as it really changes the meta in a way that is fresh and welcome.

So, as someone who really likes this game, I cannot reccomend that anyone invest money in it until fatshark makes good on more of their promises. Even playing at a moderate pace, the current "release" of the game can be completely played out in about 100 hours of play, if you like the flow of combat you can squeeze some more out of it.

The biggest issues with the game are the ones that make you feel bad for playing it, you don't get even your own personal stats after a mission, much less being able to see what your team has done, and while obfuscating group stats has a decent rational in public games, I think it's torture to get no feedback on how your skills are progressing in a twitchy shooter/hack and slash, and makes players feel worse to not even be able to opt-in.

There are essentially very few choices when it comes to weapons, most classes have one or two viable weapons at higher difficulties in each category (ranged/melee) as lots of the weapons are essentially novelties that will directly underpower you in combat. And even the weapons and weapon perks which make for a baseline experience of the game have no real way to make sure you will even get them before you're done with the class. Crafting and weapon modification is essentially nonexistant, we were told there would be weapon attachments, a complex crafting system, and many more options. The few options we have for getting weapons seem designed to make you feel as bad as possible, it's just like playing the lottery when you get an orange, it -could- be something excellent, but 99 times out of 100 a random drop is gonna be something terrible that you don't even want to use, and its only purpose will be to break it down for credits

Honestly my biggest gripe is the bugs, players will die for often no clear reason, fall through the map, many pickups are consistently unable to be collected if they spawn in specific map locations (including mission objectives), charging elite enemies can do truly ridiculous maneuvers to close distance and grab you (including teleporting, making 180 degree turns at full speed, and being coded so that dodging does not help) even under a hail of fire and direct critical hits to the face. None of the map modifiers really work as intended, and the ones that even show up often break the game in meaningful ways, such as causing massive lag for all players. Honestly there are too many bugs for me to list here.

They have explained that they wanted to get the game released and in players hands faster, but I think this has greatly detrimented the game in the long-term, alienating even dyed in the wool Vermintide and fatshark fans. It's great if you want to release a game at the holidays to get that dollar, but don't then abandon it for almost a full month while it is full of bugs, unfinished, and people are trying to spend time playing it on their hard earned holiday breaks. Frankly speaking the game functioned better before the december 21st update, and the fact that they couldn't hotfix any of the new bugs before going on vacation is a slap in the face.

Most of this I have been willing to look past on a personal level and try to have fun with the game, but even though I bought it for two friends, and had 20+ friends list playing it at release, maybe 2-3 of them have launched the game in the first two week of the new year. I let myself get really wrapped up in it, and have just been playing solo queue, but I don't even feel good trying to convince them to jump back in any time soon (nor do I possess that level of persuasive skill), especially if the next few updates are as buggy, poorly thought out, and poorly supported as the last.

In summary, the game is not finished, and fatshark are being very, VERY opaque about their next moves. This probably means they will just be working on the console port for the forseeable future and the pc base will be left to die, sacrifices as unwilling alpha testers who were led astray into a barely functional "game".

Has a bit of a skill curve, but worth learning, very fun to play with friends if you can get 5 other people. Public games can be very hit or miss.

This is a really great turn based strategy, it's like pacific rim meets evangelion meets advance wars. Sometime things are hopeless and there really is no way out, but sometimes everything just lines up and you can perfect the whole game without a single civilian casualty, each game is short enough that the losses aren't that crushing, but the victories feel really worthwhile and hard-won. Would recommend to anyone who like FTL or to anyone who enjoys roguelites. The advanced edition content really rounds it out, glad I picked it up again after the update was released.

This is a really amazing game if you like tower defense, you get a hex-based frame to load cargo on, then you have to power and defend the ship and cargo through set levels of enemies and obstacles. The mid game suffers a bit from wonky ship frames that make it really hard to fit what you need(want) on them, but once you're through that part of the game it gets a lot more fun.

My only real critique is that there isn't an easy way to plan out your ship in-game or to re-orient or use abilities right when you need to since it's all in real-time, being able to pause in the way you can in say FTL would be very welcome, but I could see how that might ruin some of the action.

It probably doens't have much replayability since all of the levels have static spawns, but it is a real blast.
