Games really good... You want more info? Okay!

I first heard about this game from one of my friends, who adores the game to bits, they are even a contributor to the 2nd artbook they love the game so much, so I saw it on sale and thought, "Hey, why not give the game a go" and it was one of my best purchases on Steam in recent memory.

The Glitch Fairy follows the journey of a Fairy named Monie, who has to fight off the Princess of Spelanie who is trying to absorb sugar town into her Kingdom. After getting her flight power stolen, she falls off a cliff and upon awakening she has the power to bend reality and give herself new powers by using it on enemies she encounters on her journey.

The game has so much love and care crafted into it's lore and world building with plenty of optional dialogue available for those who want to truly immerse themselves into the world of the game, some NPC's are purely exposition machines as well as numerous tomes in certain levels and even random signposts in levels will give you some more hints to things to come later.

The gameplay itself is of an action platformer that offers lots of secrets and optional speed run challenges that for the most part contribute to your end of stage grade (From Bronze Star to Platinum Star) which can all be tackled on multiple runs to raise it, not having to do everything in one fell swoop which encourages repeat playthroughs of stages to find what you may have missed to get that lovely platinum star.

The visual style may not be to everyone's liking, after looking through the artbook you can see how the developers struggled to make the game look the best it can be, whilst making the animations run smoothly, the character designs got reworked to a more simple art style the final game finished on, but it takes nothing away from the game and if you can look past it, it will provide you with plenty of wonderful experiences.

It having some inspiration by Touhou, the boss fights and challenge stages are designed to test how well you get to grips with the games controls, not overly difficult and any stages and bosses I did have some difficulty on were not to a frustrating degree, it just encouraged me to take a little more time and learn boss patterns to overcome, it was very satisfying when I finally toppled the boss or challenge stages. But the game also has a story mode for those who want to truly enjoy the games world and lore (Although I didn't play that difficulty as I wanted to challenge myself as well)

In summary, The Glitch Fairy is a very well put together game that really shows how much love and passion the devs had for this game, with plenty of lore and world building, a game that is challenging but not frustratingly so and offers an easier difficulty if it gets to that point. I would highly recommend this game, even at full price.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? A Hat in Time is an excellent homage to Platformers of days gone past and considering this is an indie game that doesnt have the budget or manpower of a big studio, they've taken what they have been given and made something special with huge charm, Hat girl could be one of my favourite game characters of recent times and I hope she will get another game in the future.

A great thing about this game is how all the worlds feel different, each world included in the release version are played differently that makes each new area you unlock feel even more distinct from the last on top of the different themes of each world, to a point that I approach the two DLC worlds with huge anticipation.

With a decent amount to collect (but not too much) it feels like it found a great balance which lets you play the game at your own pace despite one or two acts needing an item from a later world to clear them. Whilst it would be nice for some that there was more to collect it shouldnt be too big of a problem with the previously stated DLC whch will hopefully add some more hats.

Music in the game as well is a joy to listen too, very fitting and when needed very atmospheric which further engrosses you in the game.

In conclusion, if Yooka Laylee didn't scratch that nostalgic platformer itch, buy this game because it may be exactly what you wanted.

Before you buy this game, a word of warning, this Visual Novel has a LOT of text that you'll have to read yourself, if that's not what you want, then look elsewhere.

This is basically a game where you are a detective and have travelled to a space colony that has been lost for 1000 years, however there is no more human life aboard. You log into the ships computer and with the help of 2 AI, Hyun ae and Mute, you must uncover the truth of the colony and why there is no one alive on it anymore.

You will have to do some basic programming to find all the info you need so there is input despite all the logs you'll have to read, some go into 6 pages in length so prepare your reading glasses and pay close atention to the details, you will be quizzed by the AI girls at intervals during your investigation to get your opinions on some of the things that you read in these logs and possibly get them to give you more logs.

You will read a number of different stories that happened during the final years of the ships human life, you may be shocked, you may be disgusted but it will make you want to read on and find out the whole story.

This game would take about 5 hours to complete one playthrough, but there are 5 different endings including a special harem ending (Yes they may be Computer programs but if you so choose you can agree to get married to them)

I give this game a solid 8/10, the interface isn't perfect but it does it's job and it gives you a little extra input and involvement than other Visual Novels, so if that sounds good to you it'd be worth your time to pick up.

I may barely have scratched the surface upon writing this review, but I just want to pursuade those who see this as just another Sonic Clone to seriously re-evaluate this opinion. Freedom Planet does certainly give a Sonic vibe but that's all it is, just a vibe. It has it's own mechanics that seperate it form it's inspiration, It has a better combat system with more vareity in attacking enemies than just jumping on them, the levels also play differently for each character so it doesn't feel like trecking through the same areas over and over, you can explore numerous areas other characters can't.

You can choose either Adventure mode with cutscenes and a interesting story, or you can choose classic and just play each stage back to back like in Sonic Games.

If you ever thought the classic Sonic games were missing a litte extra something you should take a look here, it may very well fulfill that need.

Shantae: Risky's Revenge is a sequel, but don't let that put you off, as a newcomer to the series I can say that this is a fun platformer that doesn't neccesarily need the previous games context to enjoy the story of this one.

Forune Summoners is a traditional platforming RPG with retro graphics so cute they belittle the challenge the game presents, I would highly recommend this game to any fan of retro japanese games.
