Yeah the combat is good, the art beautiful, the characters intriguing and the story suspenseful, the puzzles... well that's a heated topic to discuss, they're fine if a bit tedious after a while

But when you get to the DLC dungeon and hear that ♥♥♥♥ swell, I simply cannot stop my hand from clicking thumbs up

On one hand, Red Darkhouse is harder than dodging rain drops, calm down, game difficulty!!

On the other hand, hehe Touhou with even more rabbits

Also roguelikes scratch my dopamine centers.

And the music is immaculate, just like in Touhou (but with more rabbits)

well it still sucks due to the constant scrambling of content, said content not having regional pricing and being blocked in my country.

at least the silver store isn't blocked!! no regional pricing, either, so cough up those bucks, pageant boy!!

I dig it.

The pros: Combat's fast-paced and tight, there's a big handful of weapons, skills and abilities to play with.
Movement's pretty good (especially if you're a bandit), the character controls well enough on keyboard.
The loot gathering massages my dopamine receptors.
Areas and aesthetic look good enough.
Music SLAPS; it must be royalty-free because where's the soundtrack dlc??

The character designs. Most know why they bought this. I do too. I AIN'T ASHAMED.

The neutrals: The game is sort of short. You can get to the final dungeons at the 10 hour mark. That's on one character, though, so trying out different builds can help with that. So can installing mods.
Combat's got a bit of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in it (I hate boars), and the fights can drag on for a while. Then again, multiplayer seems to be encouraged, so that might be on me. Also, mods.

The cons: Story amounts to "you're in the afterlife, things are BAD here, fix this by killing everything you see". There's a bit of lore in the quest descriptions, but only a bit.
Characters exist to provide a service or to give you quests. You can talk with them... a little.
Quests aren't very varied (either kill a boss, kill enemies and collect their loot drops, or clear a dungeon) and the puzzles are all platforming challenges.
This game IS an MMO-but-not-exactly, so if you're into (mostly) mindless grinding, the cons can be ignored.

A nice pick when it's on sale, and maybe even when it's not on sale. Probably an even better pick if you have friends.

pretty fun. I liked all the minigames, the story and characters were alright (maybe even funny sometimes). Music's silly. And I love mopmop. Sweet little thing.

Wish I could replay that game with the caveman, though. I liked making beats.

Calamity Mod (and its music) has ensnared me. I can never truly escape. The story? Well it's there, but I can instead slap 8 giant worms to death while the music transports me to heaven.

Oh and the Touhou pets mod is good, too.

The positives: The combat's captivating, almost scarily so, the story and characters are VERY good (and are getting better and better), the art is nice and the atmosphere is immersive (as much as it can be with mostly static images), the world is so depressing yet so interesting.

The community's something.

The downsides: the tutorials are sparse, the controls can be annoying (let me push a button to see what skills are able to clash), and of course it had to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gacha.

Also FOMO sucks. ♥♥♥♥ you, FOMO

"OoOOo but you can get everything if you farm until your hair grays" what if I didn't? Maybe I like having time, because I haven't invented immortality yet.

"just play less" is the game gonna last that long, if I play less? It's a gacha game, there's going to be grind. They also have a tendency to "implode" and then they're just GONE, with no offline versions. Real consumer-friendly. Do I just watch the story on Youtube, if that has the potential to happen?

"OooOOo but you can clear everything with the level 1 starter goblins while blindfolded and dancing macarena" what if I WANT to have that cute magical girl who has a giant beam of doom, or a guy who looks like a hobo? I don't want to stare at suits, or some boring uniform, I have enough of those in my wardrobe.

"OooooOOo but it brings in more money for other projects/how are they gonna feed people if you don't pay" or we could just abolish capitalism. Just a thought, you know.

Why isn't Steam's review system more fleshed out? Why can't I, for example, pick out some tags and separately give them a thumbs up/down, if Steam is so insistent on having "GOOD, BAD, NOTHING IN BETWEEN"? Even GOG has stars, that's marginally better.

I DID put some time into this game, though, so I'm gonna flip a coin and let that decide whether I recommend this or not. (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is that a limbjus cwompaniy renaissance)

Now this one's good fun, and I'm just playing against the CPU. Can't wait to get absolutely destroyed by human players!

Great game, the updates (not DLC) are nice, the base building sucks you right in, and the modding capabilities are amazing - I spent a good chunk of my play time just downloading and sorting mods.
Unfortunately, Ludeon have decided to hike up the prices everywhere but the USA... get screwed, Poland, Russia, Brazil, most of Europe, a lot of people really... the DLCs are already expensive, Biotech's probably going to cost more than the base game before the price change (November 11th). The discounts are just laughable.
They also announced new cross-expansion integration content in the same post... people have been asking for cross-expansion content, but now they have even more of an incentive.

You don't see a lot of cross-expansion content, anyway... at least enough to justify the price, or the mods breaking.

Steam's becoming a hellhole, the developers and publishers too. Maybe if we get more than 10% discounts...

GUESS WHAT'S BEEN GETTING WORSE!! I still play this, but the review will remain a nice fat thumb down.
