I have not played enough to judge it fully, but as it stands with a nongaming laptop where the frame rate has greatly been reduced to where it is nearly impossible to play well, you would rather just ditch the game unless the developers come back and work on this game. They do not have full-time employees and only have volunteers and it's good to reduce the pressure while developing the game and not teasing your audience, but that does not excuse the amount of bugs that need to be fixed and the issues that are present in some operating systems.

If there is any potential for the game to have more fixes and more meaningful content coming, then I am all for it. Otherwise, you'd rather give that same money to a science museum instead of buying this game.

EDIT: They are still in development but a bit slowly. Even when they claim that progress was not made and still meet each other to check in on goals and still care for each other as a team, I still consider that as progress.

The premise of the game has a lot of good potential from grade-school children who are learning the basics of earth science (or the general public) to adults who are majors in geology and beyond. What this game has done was make the settings of changing the land settings with hills, mountains, streams, rivers, volcanic activity, etc., and give the effects of those geologic causes for the player to see.

Unfortunately, I don't think the current game as of now works in advanced detail since it does not show enough parts and pieces from both a gaming perspective and a geomorphic perspective (I am biased since I have finished geomorphology) with specific types of rivers like the formation of oxbow lakes or seeing braided river channels more often.

If there are any recommendations that I have, they would be similar to other reviewers' feedback like dynamic weather, contour lines, sinkholes, etc. But I would also include having a sound that comes from the game; viscosity and explosiveness based on the silica content of the lava (like explosive lava in the Cascade region of the west side of the continental United States or the lava flow like the ones in Hawaii via hotspot or Iceland due to the tectonic rift), and giving more details of the river like braided streams or anastomosing rivers.

I think this game has PLENTY of potential and as a soon-to-be geology graduate, I look forward to how things go.

P.S. Even though I am a geology major, I don't precisely remember everything, so I keep my college textbooks after purchase.

Since this game has improved in deleting bots, casual is now playable again. However, I will not change my recommendation until VALVe remains consistent in being active, consistent, and aggressive in going after cheaters, scripters, both idle and trade bots (which make up 70% of the playerbase) and those who unironically make hateful content or behavior like kicking people out of a match because of one's identity, skill, race, or religion, etc. (I am looking at you Tacobot.tf)
