An adventure whose main conceit is that each interaction moves time ahead 1 minute towards an unavoidable event in the future. The limited number of moves adds a little tension to each interaction and dissuades players from hoovering up all the clues in each room, as they would in any other adventure game. The slow-drip narrative is this game's greatest strength, which is held up with historical context and Irish folklore. There's challenge in teasing out all the clues for all the "side quests" -- I missed 3 of 21 in my single run of the game -- but the interaction limit is generous enough that you would have to play very recklessly to miss the main mystery. Downsides are that there's a lot of hoofin' it across one side of the manor to the other, and many of the puzzles are weak (e.g. more than one case of finding a combination to a combo lock written down somewhere).

First off
* Some of the puzzles require differentiating color to solve, and make use of the full spectrum; I'm not sure if any of these puzzles are mandatory, but colorblind players will be at a disadvantage
* In typical rogue-adjacent fashion, RNG can really kick your ass. Typically this is in the form of being dealt rooms that result in dead-ends. There are tools to mitigate the effects, both temporary and permanent, but even with careful planning some runs can be a bust.
* You'll need a journal, or tablet, or something else you can write and draw in. Many puzzles aren't feasible without some way of recording notes, and memorizing locker combinations won't be enough.

If any of these are non-starters, turn back. Otherwise, this is an excellent game! The closest thing I can compare it to is Outer Wilds with its looped gameplay structure and narrative onion-peeling. However, there are permanent effects which carry across runs, and the puzzles are much more explicit and less organic than the interactions in Outer Wilds (not a bad thing, just a stylistic difference). Think rogue-lite meets adventure game.

This game changed me. There's a ruthlessness inside of me that this game draws out in me. Mere survival becomes indistinguishable from a lust for power. Of course, they started it. They thought they would push us around, with our meager weapons and weak defenses. But they understimated the efficiency with which I run my ship. By the time they realized what happened, they'd lost half their crew. Then they surrendered. "Oops, sorry! Here, take this, just let us go on our way!" And what a paltry offering! They offer missiles, they offer robot parts, but It's the scrap I want. Not that we really had a choice; every last piece of scrap was vital to our survival. But I can't deny the sadistic thrill I felt, grinning, and giving the command: "Open Fire."

Update 2017:

Still play this now and again, that's the mark of a good game. Also, maybe don't destroy every ship you come across, I think you get better returns if you can kill the crew without totalling the ship.
