After the 2.0 Update the game has been crashing while trying to leave the starting encampment. I have not been able to leave Clearfell Encampment and experience the rest of the game.

Where it stands right now, it's not even close to being worth spending money on it.
  • Poor balancing. You get nonsensically low stat boosts, and gimmicks with even lower trigger chances. It definitely feels like it favors high fire rate builds a lot better since you'll more easily get more buck for your bang with effects.

  • Boss balancing is ridiculous with superglue lock-on and projectile vomit on top of poor telegraphing of attacks. The lazer tell on the purple chameleon boss is practically invisible with how paper thin those activation lines are.

  • The controls felt sluggish, especially interacting with objects. Having to pause, look at the item, and then hold down the interact button is not something that should be in this genre. It should be more like Risk of Rain where you can interact in proximity to the item, which allows you to fly by and open things with full consistency.

  • Enemy spam to the point where with certain items your screen becomes so cluttered it's hard to see what's going on. This doesn't help with the slow interactability of items making it impossible to do things if there's enemies nearby

  • With the visual clutter comes unavoidable chip damage as you can't see where you're going or what you're trying to shoot, it's weird that there's not better sustainability/protection options, even a rechargeable shield would be better (it could be in the game, but I have not seen it)

  • There's potential for the game, the progression systems seem interesting, and there's fun item combos buried beneath poor balancing

Overall I would avoid this game until it's near completion or has passed the 1.0 mark. It's hard to say if the developers will be able to iron out the mess that they released, but hopefully they don't waste the clear potential of this game.

UPDATE: Came back to the game after a while only to find out that the devs really don't respect you as a paying customer. Not only did they add a new tier to lock away more rewards after constantly saying that Gold tier was the highest tier leading into the full release. They also give you less money than 90% of things on their store. You cannot buy anything meaningful or good with the pitiful pocket change they throw at you. But hey if you fork over some more dolla dolla they just MIGHT treat you how a developer should treat a paying customer. DISGUSTING!!!

Absolutely atrocious and disgraceful performance from these developers. They should be ashamed of what they're doing to their game, and you should stay clear of this travesty of a game.

I love grindy games, but I hate F2P daily grinders with a passion. The cosmetic progression in the game is atrocious and forces you to either grind for 18 hours a day or log in daily to inch your way towards the end of a cosmetic pack that you'll soon have to pay real money for. It's atrocious design that does nothing but force you to play the game longer than you want to, in order to entice you into spending more money on the game. Especially with confirmed convenience services (once they figure out how to inconvenience you to make those more appealing) coming down the line.

You're pretty much forced into grinding/purchasing cosmetics, as all of the non premium items are absolutely ugly and will always clash with one another as you're intended to grind for best stats. You either look like colorful and mismatched to oblivion trash or cool. Pick your poison. All I want is to look cool while I nail the game's hardest difficulty, not be forced to do a grind for cosmetics on top of grinding for currently pointless loot.

The looting system in the game shows potential, but at the current moment it's pretty underwhelming. It's a very linear system of numbers go up against a currently mediocre difficulty. They haven't reached that "Feel Good" moment of getting your unique build together and doing well against a challenging piece of content. A mediocre build will currently get you through the game more than easily.

It's a shame that the monetization of this game will inevitably be the killer for it, as there's clearly passionate developers pouring their hearts and passion into the game. Just steer clear, your time and money is better spent elsewhere, somewhere that respects your limited time as an adult with a job. Don't make the same mistake I did by supporting these greedy hacks that are holding a potentially good game hostage.
