A scientific theory is not a "guess" or a hypothesis. For an idea to become a scientific theory (and I say "scientific theory" to avoid the alternate definitions of "theory" which IS just a guess), it has been tested time and time again to be shown to be true. It can be tested using mathematical formulas or experiments, and if it has been shown to be true in every case (such as evolution, gravity, and germs), then it can be called a scientific theory, which is about the highest form of truth there is.
HOWEVER, if a scientific theory is found to be false in any way through an experiment or observation where the theory doesn't hold up to evidence, then that theory will be tested more and more, and if it turns out to be false, then the theory is discarded.
thanks for reading.
it must be true.
