Wanted- Artist/Animator for 2D project
I am working on a 2D platformer project, written in XNA/Mono (C#). I am looking for an artist/animator who can design characters and enemies. Pixel art is pretty much a no-no, so please don't apply with pixel art unless you are doing something new and innovative with it. Also looking for art talent in drawing static backgrounds/levels. Use of Flash for animation is optimal, but not strictly required. Frame animation and cutout/tween animation are both viable options. Here are some requirements:

- High school student. I am also in high school and it will be best if we are working from the same general schedules.
- US/Canada resident- While I appreciate that people are talented everywhere, it is best that everyone on the project is from the US or Canada for timezone and tax reasons. Sorry!
- (Legal) Copy of Flash Professional or other animation software. If you are doing frame animation, Photoshop or another drawing suite will be sufficient.
- Time - I understand that high school students have a lot of responsibilities, and do not expect team members to put their work before homework or college apps. However, you should not apply if you have little-to-no free time.
- Ability to create a coherent, unique art style: Your art should follow a style that is your own, and not look like a patchwork of different asthetics.

We will be working on an action platfomer with a unique setting and creative world. Animation will include 2 player characters with full animation, NPCs with basic animation, enemies with several animation loops each, and various projectiles, dynamic level elements, and other miscellanious art assets. Background art will include 6-10 full 2D levels with possible parallax scrolling, environmental animation, or other features. I am programming and designing the game, artists will have creative control over art style and asthetic design, and can also work on game design if they wish. We will be working from a profit-sharing model if the game is released for sale, and all artists will retain rights to their work (but not accompanying names, backstory, mechanics, etc...) if the game is not published or is released for free.

Currently the game's basic framework (collision, projectiles, player movement) is written, but there is still a lot of work to do. I need to begin working with an artist before I can move forward in some of the important areas of the game (hitboxes, melee combat, AI, etc). It is written in C# using the XNA framework. I also have fleshed out the script and a lot of the worldbuilding for the game's universe. I don't want to share specific details in public, but I will to any potential teammembers.

:medicon::medicon::medicon::medicon::medicon:

If you are interested in applying, please post below with some of your skills or any portfolio you have and add me. You do not have to have these materials ready when you intially apply, but you should submit:

- A character design or animation
- A piece of concept art
- (Optional) An ORIGINAL animated sprite
- (Optional) A section of level background (You may submit only this if you wish only to apply for level design.)

If you do not wish to post your work publically, add me and message it to me.

Finally, if you believe you can bring something unique to the project that I haven't mentioned, or don't satisfy some of the requirements but think you can still be a valuable member of the team, let me know! However, please add me on steam and don't post in this thread.

Introduce Yourself
My name is Will, I am a student from the US (16). My school does not teach programming, but I have self taught many languages (C/C++, C#, AS3, Python) since I began programming 6 years ago, and have made multiple prototypes but have never released a game. I am currently developing a platformer and plan to finish it in the next 12 months depending on art assets. I'm hoping Pipeline can help me grow skills as an artist for my game or create opportunities for me to work with an artist.

I also dabble in 3d modelling and have released a few workshop items for TF2, unfortunately none that have been accepted to the game. I'm interested in learning more on 3d modelling for future projects.

I have some experience with the Source engine, I began working on a project in it before abandoning it due to inability to create the neccesary models and assets.

Pipeline is a great program, and I hope both Valve and the Pipeline team success in the program. I am also happy to help anyone with game design, as I have taken several courses from MIT Opencourseware and similar initiatives on game design and read many books on the subject, in addition to viewing a myriad of talks from professionals at GDC and similar events online. If you're designing a play loop, narrative, or just have issues making your game fun, I would like to help out.

Favorite games currently are CS, Dark Souls, and Dota2.

Also speak some Mandarin so I may be able to help chinese members with some minor translation of questions but cannot do any localization work.
