Any ideas what I should focus on after school?
Hi, I'm Jason from Kleve, Germany, 16, and I am extremely interested in sound design, audio engineering and (electronic) music production. I am using Logic Pro 9 right now, and have some tunes uploaded here: https://soundcloud.com/jason-efstathiou (These are pretty old already, I learned a lot since then, and am working on some nice and deep projects right now).

I love making ambient music (https://soundcloud.com/jason-efstathiou/forest-birds, https://soundcloud.com/jason-efstathiou/a-challenge). It just gets me down to earth, to a beautifully melancholic feeling, and it's a great way to train synthesis and soundscapes.

I love everything about synthesis, my dream is owning a big modular synthesizer with all kinds of funny and interesting input methods, such as theremin antennas or maybe a drawing tablet.

I am extremely interested in soundscapes, and Valve games generally amaze me in that regard. Sound design adds a huge chunk of immersion to games, and is extremely important, especially for atmospheric FP games.

I also enjoy every kind of digital creativity, like photo manipulation (I like to take photos myself - see http://flickr.com/efstajas), web design, graphic design and animation. I could imagine a career in any of these directions, but music and audio engineering, ideally at a video company (ideally Valve) is my biggest dream.

I like complex systems, may it be analog control mechanisms for a pressure valve, or computer code. It's fun to try and find out what they do just by looking. In school, I've learned some basic programming in Delphi, and would like to learn more interesting programming languages later.

Video games have always fascinated me as an interactive piece of art, and I want to contribute to video games in my future.

What should I do after school? Any great universities to study for these kinds of carreers?

Thank you a lot for your help!
