Where to start with NES development?
Yes, I am completely serious.
I've had an idea for a while for an old-school NES game and I want to use some actual NES SDK's to get an authentic-as-possible experience. If it helps, I have a rough idea of how NES spriting works and I have some experience with Famitracker. What programming language I need to learn could be a good start.
Oh, and also I want to try to tackle the project by myself.

Probably you would have to learn NES machine code, which is quite the undertaking. However I've heard talk of a C compiler to NES, though I'm not sure how well it compiles to actually run on NES hardware. I would look into a compiler unless you want to learn assembly, which is near-impossible for a novice programmer.
