To help out the beginner game developers
Hello world,

I am here to talk to you about game development. I myself am a successful game developer creating games for HTML5, iOS, Android, Tizen, MAC, Windows Legacy (Win 7 and down), Windows 8 Native, Windows 8 Javascript, and Windows Phone 8+.

I would recommend starting off with the GameMaker: Studio software (http://www.yoyogames.com). It is a great program that allows beginners to start programming using a basic Drag'n'Drop feature and a built in programming language known as GML (GameMaker Language) for more advanced users.

This is a great place to start for many reasons: it will teach you good programming habits and syntaxing, it allows the ability of rapid development, it is very similar to the C, C#, C++ professional programming languages, you can create virtually anything, there is a great community to help get you started with a near unlimited supply of tutorials.

Once you feel comfortable in the GML language I would go onto C# or C++ depending on which systems you would like to develop for. C# is more for Microsoft type products where as C++ is great for almost any system. Let me warn you though C++ is an incredibly difficult language to pick up so be weary.

I dunno about the GameMaker. I think it'd be beneficial to learn C++ first. Anyways, the easiest tutorials are thenewboston.

It all just depends on the learning curve. This is based on those having trouble getting into C#/C++ in the beginning.

The gamemaker is even downloadable via steam. I got it a few months ago but didn't get any further into it until now.
