1st Person Zero Gravity Multiplayer Shooter
After seeing the movie "Ender's Game", and seeing the zero gravity gun combat that gave me an idea. What if there was a zero gravity first-person shooter that is a multiplayer that is similar in a way to Valve's "Team Fortress 2" I am hoping that with a concept like this, it can be in a way the next "Portal", with its never before done formula!

First of all, we need to 'spitball' some ideas first about the game.
Things like...

What will the setting be?

What will the characters/players look like?

How many teams can fight against one another? will there be an inventory system?

How much voice acting will we need?

Will it be paid for?

How many servers can it hold?

There also other things that we can all discuss.

There are many different things we can ask ourselves, but what can we do?

I saw the trailer, and I think we could change some things, so it's not as farmilliar. I was picturing my version more sci-fi, like possible an aliens vs. humans, and it would be class- based. It would have multiple settings, like stations, ships, and other things, as you would not be out in space. We can gather some more followers, and we can exchange ideas between us to make a better version of Shattered Horizon. Sort of like Narbacular Drop becoming Portal.

I've thought of a couple classes:
Marksman: Gets a sniper rifle or a DMR, or maybe have that change based on player prefrence. Gets a pistol too. (Nerf the class a bunch, or else everyone will play this class.)

Soldier: Nothing special, a select-fire rifle and a pistol. Probably would have more health/stronger shields than the Marksman.

Tank: Lots of health/ stronger shields, less dexterious, big weapon of some sorts (minigun or rocket launcher?) and a secondary with another gun, like a shotgun or so.

Medic: Healing abilities, via healthkits he carries or something. A shotgun primary and the healing device secondary. A little bit more dexterious.

Specialist: Ability to swap between explosives/ flames (if in an enviornment with oxygen)/ building and repairing things. If you want to put it in terms of TF2, a combination between the Demoman, the Pyro, and the Engineer.

Also, armor custimization similar to Halo would be fantastic, it would definitely give replay value to the game.

What will the setting be?

Sci-fi, some of the maps being in space, some of them being indoors.

What will the characters/players look like?

I was thinking similar to the Cerberus guys from Mass Effect.

How many teams can fight against one another? will there be an inventory system?

Depends on how many players we can fit on a server. It would be really cool if we could get like 64 players in a server and have a four way battle.

How much voice acting will we need?

5 male and 5 female, and an announcer.

Will it be paid for?

That's a difficult question. We could do the F2P model, or a subscription (this is really only viable if we can get a TON of people in a game) or just a up-front fee. We could add cosmetics and weapons in TF2 style to allow people to buy items that DO NOT give them an advantage of the others.

How many servers can it hold?

That's a great idea dude! I've been sketching up a model for what could the soldier. I pictured the characters to be like the Ceberus from Mass Effect too! I also thought that there would be a max of four teams on a map, and the colors could be blue, red, yellow, and green. It is simiar to TF2 in a way I think, but it's an awesome concept! I'll post the designs I have in mind when I'm done! I'll probably remake them in Microsoft Fresh Paint! For the early versions, it should be free, and then maybe when it's fully released, and maybe even showcased by Valve becuase we're part of their Pipeline group, then it could be payed for! Just keep spreading the word about the game! You could be our level designer!

I love the whole idea of customization, and it can have even more freedom in it then Halo! I'll tell you more later! I also have a good friend who's really good at writing, so if we need a little bit of a narrative, or anything like that, they'd be perfect if they can do it!

I'd suggest you use source as it has the most realistic physics and we already know it will respond well to having players at various angles (see portal when you come out of the wall sideways).

Yeah, I would want to use Souce, but what about adding in new things? Would we just have to heavily mod Hammer?

I'm proficent in Hammer, so I can start getting some map ideas down. And by new things, what do you mean? Custom models? Textures? Because Hammer can do all that.

Would just be zero gravity and that's it? The idea looks good but you should i think you should develop it more, or it would be a desaster. About your questions...

The zero gravity it's a pretty inovative idea. But wouldn't make sense to be a game on 2014. It would be on 2214, it would be futuristic! The war should be on some spaceship, on the moon, on Mars.. places that remember Dead Space 2, sci-fi movies, these stuffs. Team Deathmatch, team A is blue, team B with red, or whatever

The absence of gravity gives many possibilities. You could get in a room, than one guy comes from the window on the left, other one on the right, other behind you, other would already be there (I think that's why Titanfall is 6x6) and people would probably die while they look for something on the inventory. That's why i think inventory system wouldn't fit on this game (Not on multiplayer). Just make the 1-5 buttons change the weapons, or use the mouse wheel
Voice acting could be important, i think the voices would just say "thanks for the assist", "enemy spotted", "cover me", but you could use the microfone also. I don't have many ideas on this side
About being paid...well, you need to waste money to make the servers work. Could be the usual 60$ and play how much you want, like COD or BF on pc's. Could be F2P with microtransations (no pay-to-win please). LAN party would be great, maybe Hamachi

I'm still happy and worried with that zero-gravity. How people would be moving? I mean, couldn't be something complicate. Could be like Aliens. They grab on the walls, the floor and on the roof, and them change their perspective, or like Dead Space 2
It's a very interesting concept, you should think more about it. And try to be simple, make a thing per time, and when your first idea it's done, move to the next one
I can't imagine this game being single-player or third person
