Still Working On Getting Server Back Up

Patch caused some conflicts with configs...or sourcemod...getting different stories depending on the person from the Valve Server Op Mailing List. I've reinstalled server and sourcemod, plugins, and I think I've reconfigured all files. Once Workshop stuff gets in order we should be good to go. Hopefully that is tonight, because I won't be around tomorrow.

"Large" CS Patch Today According to Valve Server Op List

I will be out tonight, but I will try to remember to update server through my phone sometime this evening...as soon as I notice the patch release. Valve states the patch is somewhat significant, and they've even frozen the current patch as a -beta so that competitive events this weekend can opt out of using the new patch. This usually means large balance changes (recoil...map layout change...UI changes, etc.)

Not sure if this also means a new map or silencers but I hope it is at least one of those. Maybe a new weapon for each side?

2/7/2013 CS:GO Patch

UPDATE: 2/7/2013 8:15P

The server is still not up based on the patch's issues running on Windows based servers, which ours is. Both Valve and my Provider are looking into this. However, the patch does seem solid so I'm looking forward to getting back up and running as soon as possible.

---------------------------------------------

One of the features of tomorrow's patch will be the CS:GO Map Workshop, similar to what Left 4 Dead and Skyrim have. These changes, which are listed below, will affect our server's map rotation and such. I have no idea how large the affect will be... The server config files will take some time to relearn, as well as figure out how map distribution will be handled (still sv_allowdownload 1 I hope.) Once the patch notes are released and I look over the starter Wiki I will have a better idea how long this will take.

Problem is I'm busy with work this week, so I don't know how quickly I'll tackle all these changes. We'll see. Could be tomorrow night, could be the weekend.

If it is the weekend, I'll at least move the server back to a standard map rotation until I can bring us back to using custom maps and mapvotes.

-----------------------------------------------

Hi,

tomorrow we plan to launch the CS:GO Maps Workshop.

1. We’ve started working on the wiki here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/CSGO_Workshop_For_Server_Operators

It would be helpful if people read through it and posted questions and helped us cover the basics by tomorrow.

2. We’re moving the _SE maps from the depot into the workshop. You can either squirrel them away before they get deleted or use them directly from the workshop, which is what we recommend.

In order to do that you will need to

a. Learn how to launch your server with a workshop collection instead of a mapgroup.

b. Learn how to create collections so you can recreate your mapgroup and get your server up and running asap.

What is a Collection? A collection is essentially a mapgroup ( or mapcycle ) of Workshop maps that is editable and sharable through the Maps Workshop.

Thanks.

------------------------------

Milestone: 10,000 Unique Players on the Server

While we unofficially hit this number a week ago or so, we will be officially hitting it most likely tonight (possibly tomorrow), using our GameME stats metrics. We are ~140 players away. Thank you to everyone who plays on our server, t.a or otherwise.

1/23 CS:GO Protocal Buffered Message Patch

The protobuf patch has hit today, and I've updated the server. When I get home this evening, I will load the latest snapshot builds of metamod and sourcemod to get (most of) our third party plugins working. Some may not work in the next couple days like Advertisements (and possibly GameME), and I will update those as they become available.

I was hoping there would be a new map or two released in order to appease server operators for all the hassles this change has brought, but alas, no. They've added a deathmatch mode though, which does not belong in CS...but what can you do?

The J3Di recoil changes have been made though, which should help buff and nerf the guns that we all knew needed it. (I'm looking at you P90).
12/24 Christmas Eve CS:GO Patch Has Broken t.a Server

The 12/24/2012 CS:GO patch has completely destroyed most community servers, including ours. I have no ETA as to when we will be back up. According to Valve and AlliedModders, the game engine has changed so much as to prevent community servers from starting up, and has destroyed MetaMod / SourceMod support (the tools that allow our GameMe Stats, Admin, Map Changes / Map Voting, and pretty much everything else). So there are two things that Valve, AlliedModders, and Game Service Providers (we have Branzone) will need to work out before we are up and running. Because it is the holidays...this could be anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. I will keep us all updated.

Server Stability Should Be Better

I've talked to my host a few times over the last couple days, and they've done some tweaking on their end in order to prevent the occasional "spiking" that seems to occur out of nowhere.

Please let me know if any of you continue to experience server-side lag.
