Site Update 4.7 (and 4.6, oops)

In site-befitting fashion, belated update news!

In this double feature, we have introduced asynchronous API updates! In plain English, this means viewing your backpack no longer incurs a delay while waiting for the Steam WebAPI to respond (or not). TF2B should now be consistently snappy in serving up requests, and updates will occur mostly seamlessly in the background.

Additionally, the previous update (4.6) introduced support for Strange filters (Including item name prefixes), fixes for issues such as incorrect priority of Grades over certain Qualities like Unusual; and topped off with some significant improvements to performance.

Site Update 4.5

We just pushed update version 4.5 to TF2B![tf2b.com]

Headlining this update are improvements to the handling of MvM badges and preview overlays for fabricators/chemistry sets.

Site Relaunch

I am pleased to announce that TF2B has returned to service!

The site's item schema has been brought up to date. Per-Item highlight pages have been integrated into the main backpack view, and support for graded items introduced, including wider support for skinned weapons.

Due to the current reality of the TF2 WebAPIs, a persistent backpack cache has also been implemented with a minimum refresh interval of 30 minutes. If your backpack has not yet been cached however, a 503 error message will be returned. If so, please try again momentarily.

There are a few tasks left on the TODO list, such as missing Unusual effect icons. Not all skinned items currently have matching icons either, but coverage is increasing.

Lastly, please report any bugs or site issues in the group forum.

Just to let everyone know, tf2b's hosting provider is currently experiencing a DDoS attack causing a complete service outage for some users.

Server Upgrade

Hi guys,

Quick note to say that I've completed some upgrades on the TF2B host server and have enabled the SPDY protocol as a result.

This also means all site traffic will be going through HTTPS and is encrypted.

Please let me know if this recent change is causing any issues for you (performance or otherwise).

The "What, -more- new stuff? Again?!" edition.

- Added page summary tabs to backpack top.
- Added search filter to exclude untradable items. ("Trade" button)
- Improved handling of decals. (Better performance on first-view)
- Fixed an absolute ton of PHP warnings/notices.
- Async'd some non-vital Javascript.

Next on the agenda is even more code cleanup (Seriously, it's hella' ugly), followed by overhauling the UI. I'm open to suggestions, but no guarantees your suggestion will be implemented.

Additionally, at some point in the future I am looking to retire the old item pages in favour of a overlay (Yes, it will be linkable) in the main backpack view. So if you have any compelling arguments for why that is a bad idea or my explanation of said implemention is bad, now is the time to speak up.

"Shock horror we actually added a new feature" Edition!

- Added Name/Description tag filter button.
- Added missing Dota 2 qualities Cursed & Auspicious.
- Reimplemented quality counter system and reverted by-colour to by-class filtering method. (Causes qualities with same colour to have seperate entries)

With that done, next target on the list is completing the Nano & Mobile device layout rework.

Heads up for users, TF2B's host has undergone significant upgrades.

Of most note is the new SSD based (Not backed!) storage and newer Ivy Bridge Xeons with far less CPU contention.

As always, any bugs / other fallout should be reported to the relevant forum section.

P.S. Some of you may have noticed Australium items now display their proper icons, enjoy.

CS:GO Support

With the recent activity in the CS:GO item schema and sightings of item entries, I have added viewing support to TF2B!

Support is very rudimentary at this time, but so is CS:GO's schema. Changes to follow as the situation develops.

Server Upgrades

I'm pleased to announce that thanks to the recent round of upgrades rolled out by our VPS provider, Linode - tf2b.com's host is now significantly faster.

The host instance is now sporting a delicious 8 cores (up from 4), and a outgoing bandwidth increase of 200 Mbps!

In the coming weeks I also intend to roll out the TF2B re-write alongside a new source release, but more on that later.
