Most reasons I've seen are "Oh, you can see the legs." I say that's just a leg fetish thing, as it truly is.

Delphox most likely has larger thighs, it's just hard to see thanks to the fur robe.
"I just think Braixen looks cute."
That's fine, but I think Delphox looks gorgeous and elegant.
"The fur dress is ugly, especially on males!"
First, it's not a dress, it's a robe. Second, robes are really comfortable, and most robes in Japan are actually pretty cool looking. Third, If robes look ugly on guys, then pants should look ugly on girls.
