From abuse to rape, murder and incest. There have been many songs that touch on the dark side of humanity. Is this a good thing? Is it just for shock content? Or is it the beginning of the healing process to show the dysfunction in society?

I personally would like to say yes it would be part of the healing process. it could also be the ladder. i personally feel that censorship does more harm than good. Because you never get to hear peoples stories. And hearing their stories opens people eyes.
