Is it possible to create a non-fantasy setting with RPG Maker XP?
I just purchased RPGMaker XP for the holidays(I'm rather poor, and it was on sale.) I'm wondering if it's possible to create modern or even futuristic assets to use in game creation. If it is, I'm wondering what programs are recommended... especially with sound or music creation (other than fruityloops for music, I mean.)

for graphics, I would suggest GIMP or Photoshop - GIMP is cheaper ('cause GIMP is FREE!), but I find Photoshop easier to use. As for audio...no clue, music's not my strong suit.

You can also find modern/sci-fi assets online, if you know where to look. Check out Sithjester's site, she has a few there, and I got a modern Tokyo-pack from somewhere I honestly can't recall atm.
