Exactly. There isn't, and it works the same for everyone I'm afraid. Especially when you consider the community portion is hosted purely on their end. So whatever Steam's website's outputs remains the same, regardless of who you are, or what you are running in this instance. So I'm just gonna assume you don't wanna go into the actual reason or are a compulsive liar, but then why reply in the first place?

Okay, either you're trolling or my steam is reeeaally bugging out - either way, I don't necessarily want to be arguing with strangers over the internet. This is a place to meet like-minded individuals with similar interests and that's all I've wanted to do . You choose what you wish to believe, like i said I've no reason to be dishonest or lie, and that's all I have to say. Enjoy the rest of your day x

The thing is, your Steam doesn't handle that, it's all on the Steam community website's end when you view some one's profile. So the only way that would happen is if your Steam failed to log you into the community site when you went to it on your Steam client. But clearly that isn't happening from your ability to write this reply. The other way is if they for some reason decided to not show people private profiles by fingerprinting their browsers and deciding not to by what browser or operating system they use.

However, I've used more than one browser and operating system, and the behavior is consistent, plus there'd be no point in fingerprinting just for that purpose. The other possibility is if they choose not to give that information on a country by country basis, which also is not true, as I use a VPN, and switch from country to country very often, the UK being included amongst the list of countries I have used. The behavior has remained unchanging.

So the last possibility is, they have an if statement pertaining directly to your Steam ID, which is meant to prevent your account, and only your account from seeing the details of those who add you. Which would make no sense.

So, TL;DR: If you've gotta lie when you reply to some one about why you didn't add them, maybe just ignore them or tell them the actual reason, or think of a lie that is at least plausible.
