You need the "GLOBAL" folder from MSTS to run many of the routes

Well, you technically don't need MSTS, but most routes won't work without default MSTS content.

I second Seligman. As for missing content, I think Open Rails automatically replaces locomotives someone doesn't have with ones they do of a similar length.
