You will get 170-200 pings on australian servers, some days it will increase to 230-260.
There is no active Asia servers beside Japan Servers which most of them prefer communicating in japanese language.

Hey Nirvana, yep there are local players but we generally play on the more populated australian or american servers. Sort the server list by Players as opposed to by ping and you'll see us on servers like Hyperion, House of Awesome, AusNS2.org and the like.

I also find the west coast servers hosted by Hyperion pretty manageable as well. Scatteverse (prefixed with [ AusNS2.org ]) is still the best for us SG in terms of ping & playability though!

Yep. I find rookies tend to join the US East Coast server, [TA] House of Awesome. Just played 2 rounds and the people there were pretty friendly and forgiving to the greens.

There is no longer any Singapore Host servers.
The next lowest ping (100-150) server is from Japan which consist a group of regular players themselves and some other asia players (Usually around 7pm+, its not everyday either).

The server u might want to get in is Scatterverse which is hosted from Aus (180-220) which is one of the most active and best public server. The players tend to be on a higher skill base than those in US public servers.

There will be a CaptainMod server hosted by Scatter soon which requires at least 200 ingame hours.

seen some locals playing in australian servers. ping varies from 150 to 300.
you can try korean/japanese servers if you get low ping to them.
los angeles servers give you 200 ping. probably the best option now if you can't join asia/aus servers.

there are official servers for singapore but it's empty all the time, except maybe on weekends. it will help if you have a friend who can camp the official servers together to draw in and get a game going.

Of course, the last thing we want to do is to scare off newbies from this otherwise great game. It is frustrating to an advanced commander when the new guys don't follow orders. To help the beginners out, PLANET WHOOPASS will be hosting a dedicated rookie server in the very near future where the admins will be on hand as much as possible to give tips and suggestions.

i guess i'm just too used to tf2, where there are always plenty of full servers around

Qvoth, you have to understand that there are tonnes of games out there to be played.. Despite over 144,000 copies of NS2 sold worldwide, only ~2,900 players are online at any one time (according to steam stats, see steampowered.com); that represents 2% of the player base. If we apply the same to this group of 128 members, it means we can expect 2.5 players online at any one time. I think we average around 5 players everyday do that's already better than the norm.

is it just me or the UWE singapore servers are really empty most of the time?
i mean this group has 100+ members at the least, this shouldn't be happening?
or is it because everyone is just on the planet whoopass server? i think only see 1 of that server and it's not rookie friendly so i'm not too sure if i should join yet...
