Do you still need help documenting those sounds or am I wasting my time trying to figure out how to appropriately name, among other more coherent utterances, these "ughh" sounds?

I don't see any google doc in which to dump my findings, or indeed anyone else's findings, which is also slightly troubling.

While reversing the binary I keep coming across stuff involving strings and classes pertaining to "mruby". I decided to give it a google since I was coming across it alot. Here's the description: mruby is an interpreter for the Ruby programming language with the intention of being lightweight and easily embeddable. The project is headed by Yukihiro Matsumoto, with over 100 contributors currently working on the project. Which got me thinking maybe this is the engine's scripting language?

I also found out the game uses wwise (sound engine). I think there is a sdk for wwise. Might be worth taking a look at

Does any one know why the game uses DirectInput8 for mouse and keybord and XInput1.3 and for controlers? Mircosoft recommends using windows messages for user input besides controllers

Hey guys, I have been trying to open the weapon files for Nier. However I am having issue opening the dat files. I have tried using the unpack dat file that Criller made. But it I get loads of .mot and wta files. Anyone got ideas?

Hi everyone,

the loading screens are a pain in the ass due to the fact that you have to wait the text to be fully written.

I believe that by removing, or at least shortening, the text we could fix the problem. Now, does anyone know EXACTLY where the text data are?

By googling I found out that they are (I don't know if all of them) in data009.cpk (actually I unpacked it and it seems so)
BUT I have neither the time nor the will to unpack all the DTT and DAT files to find what I need...

I'm using DAT tool to unpack them. Does anyone know a better program?

If anyone here is interested, I've updated my NieRepack tool with a GUI and game profiles to support multiple games. As such it is now called Vidsquish, and is available here: http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/groups/vidsquish/discussions/0/1290691937717826366/

Biggest new feature for Nier players is support for motion interpolated 60 FPS video. Conversion time is extensive but the wait is worth it. Cutscenes look almost indistinguishable from gameplay. Of course, actually seeing them in 60 FPS requires an FPS unlocker mod, but most of us are probably already using one by now I'd imagine. Demo video is in the thread.

♥♥♥♥, I didn't respond to this did I? I thought I did.

In the thread you see someone linked a Google Drive folder containing unpacked sound content.

If they're not in there nor in the currently extracted audio folders then it is unfound, though I'm fairly sure they're in one or the other.

If you can't locate it I'll look over it myself and if I can't find it I'll go digging back through the .cpk files.

Gonna ask the same question: did smb find Pod's voice lines? I digged through whole /sound/ folder and didn't find any of conversation files of any character.

I'm dumb and don't see anything to download on that page so I'll keep waiting! I did have some luck repacking .dtt files using that DTT2DDS program but the textures were garbled, presumably because I exported them incorrectly(I was using Paint.net) . When I later exported them correctly using proper software however the repacking program gave me a read error.

And on another texture related topic, I wasn't able to extract all of the weapon textures using the DTT2DDS tool, is there another easy method of getting textures? I wanted to rip the weapons after I figured out how to get models into Blender.

EDIT: Maybe I should have read that page. The answer to my question is right there!

It is indeed. The repacker in theory already exists and is working. The xentax thread [forum.xentax.com] had more information on how it works and how to do it properly, so try that.

If it doesn't work I'll try my hand at making my own.

Scratch my previous statement, Amazarashi head is part of DLC but not on PC - item now can be added and will not be removed from inventory however equipping it does nothing (on PC version).

So there's a reason why Amazarashi promo pod skin was not removed from PC version - it's part of the 3C DLC now - along with the music clip.

Ah that was the console one. The PC patch just came out today. 181 megabytes. CPKs 000-019 have updated.
All previously discovered run-time offsets are invalidated now. Gotta start a new database in IDA Pro now.

Iz, it's nice to see that you're varying where you search for that information but I'll give you the same response I gave in the /vg/ thread.

Someone (myself if nobody does it by mid-may) will create a tool to do it but such a tool does not exist yet.

You can stay tuned here and I'm sure it will get posted when it's created.

Have any of you managed to repack a .dat file? I've been messing around with a texture replacement for a couple of hours now and I figured out how to unpack the CPK's and unpack the .dat and .dtt(texture .dat) files but it seems impossible to repack them.

Apparently today's milestone stream revealed some DLCs.

Nier (replicant) throwback costumes for 9S/2B/A2 and Colosseum located beyond the apologetic machine elevator(s?)

That's been checked and confirmed to be untrue.

Someone teleported in (it's an elevator) and then activated it, this was all done using Cheat Engine.

It opened up into.... nothing! As expected.

They were put in as a potential for DLC maybe, or a joke from Yoko Taro. I think it's mostly the second one.
