First, we can now use steam client instead of stand alone client, logging in with our RoF accounts. As far as I see it, it's up to player which version of program he now uses. The programs are indistinguishable; the options launcher of steam client is hidden, if you suffer from FFB2 pulsing bug it seems more frequent in steam version, but it may be my imagiantion.

Moving your RoF activity to steam client will have advantage of your flying hours showing in game's statistics in steam store, so it will look more alive and convince more people to come in. I admit I am not doing it, because the drive I have steam library on has no room for all the skinpacks I use, but if you can try it it could help a little in keeping sim alive in long run.

Finally, it will be easier to publish guides and youtube movies on steam. I'm not sure if you can do it for free-to-play version without buying anything from steam (hope so!), but in worst case it can by done by buying cheapest DLC, not 8 planes and Channel map.

Announcing the 3rd annual Oktoberfest Fly-In at Boistrancourt.

Yes, it is that time again when even we Prussians at Boistrancourt become Bavarian for a few weeks to celebrate Oktoberfest!

In an effort to encourage and promote camaraderie and unique, friendly and (generally) safer forms of flying competition within the RoF multi-player community, Jasta 5 is once again hosting a day of fun flying events at Boistrancourt in conjunction with the theme of Oktoberfest (which of course we all know actually begins in September!).

This years event will be conducted on September 28, 2013, starting at 2000 UTC/GMT

This event is intended to encourage those not currently flying online in multiplayer to try it out and come meet the RoF community. It is not an intersquad competition. Rise of Flight pilots of any experience level are invited to attend.
