Can you disable the feature of GMR exiting Civ V when game is saved?
The auto-exit of Civ V is nice if I want to do something else, but it's annoying if I was playing single player then played my GMR turn then want to resume single player. I'd imagine it would also be annoying if a group is trying to blitz early turns as a group in rapid succession. Can this be disabled somewhere?

Yes, you can! In the GMR Client, click on the small gear icon near the top-right of the window and select "Settings..."

Then scroll down in the settings window and you'll find an option allowing you to control if and when GMR will auto-close Civ V.

if you want to speed up your early game and all players in your game are availlable at the same time you can also start normal MP game with simultanious turns; play as long as you guys can, and then use the last save file to start a GMR match. this will allow your game to boost into turn 40 within a 1 or 2 hours and then keep rolling via GMR
